Rachel Brosnahan’s portrayal of Lois Lane in the upcomingSupermanmovie offers a fresh and dynamic take on the iconic reporter. As the story of the movie is set to move well past the familiar origin story-trope that Superman fans have grown accustomed to, Lane’s character will be a more refined, ‘dynamic journalist’ type character who will not be afraid to go to any lengths to cover a story.
This comes against the backdrop of a stark decline of traditional, investigative journalism in the real world, with Brosnahan’s Lois Lane set to deal with issues related to sensationalism, and ‘fake news.’ The actress herself said the same, claiming that she is inspired by Lois Lane.

I’ve always been inspired by this character. She’s somebody who is ambitious and courageous and hungry and determined to get the greatest story almost at any cost. I’ve always loved this character and was so excited by the opportunity to bring all of those things that have been true of her in every iteration.
The actress revealed that Lane’s ever-evolving nature is what she loves the most:
One of the things I love about this character is that almost more than any other character in these comics, and in the movies, she evolves to fit what it would mean to be an intrepid journalist of each generation or each decade that she’s presented in.
Rachel Brosnahanwent on to compare her character’s ideals with journalism on the whole, claiming that her version of Lois Lane has put her entire life into her career.

Journalism might be one career where ‘no’ does not always mean ‘no.’ Investigative journalists in particular, often have to go against the norm in order to get to the bottom of the story. And while this kind of journalism might be dying, Brosnahan’s character will showcase exactly that:
So, I think our challenge… Today we’re living in a world where print journalism to some is perhaps an endangered art form and she’s somebody who has dedicated her entire life to it.
She added:
I think as far as what else is different, you’ll have to check out the movie to see, but I love that she’s somebody who doesn’t understand what the word ‘no’ means and it’s motivating for her. We definitely see that side of her in this film.
Needless to say, Brosnahan’s claims are only going to further increase the hyper surroundingSuperman,and especially her iteration of Lois Lane.
