Most of the townsfolk will give you new recipes or Moon Cloves as you progress your relationship with them. But a handful of residents will give you something much more important - upgrades.

In order to get access to new resources, better tools, and upgrades for your house and clinic, you’ll need to become friends with the right people. This guide will walk you through who to build relationships with first.

Artisan Friends

In the town of Moonbury, it’s important to have a good relationship with the artisans. After all, they are the ones who will be making your tools and fixing up your house and clinic. Leveling up your friendship with them will open opportunities to get to know them better and help them upgrade their tools so that they can make higher-level products for you.

Focusing on these relationships will affect your ability to harvest more materials when out in the wild, better treat your patients, and have more ways to decorate your home.

Friends For Every Occasion

Outside the artisans, it is also important to befriend your own dog, as well as certain people in the community who will give you important recipes. Although your dog is not mentioned in the social menu within the game, maxing out their friendship is incredibly important as it allows them to learn the dig ability which gives you access to unique materials you can’t find otherwise. You can raise their friendship by petting them and feeding them once per day.

Managing your health and stamina while out in the wild foraging is very important. Not only will that help you avoid fainting before the day is over, but it will greatly impact how many resources you are able to gather per day. The best way to keep both stats in good shape is by eating. You’ll naturally be awarded recipes as you help various people throughout the village, some take considerably more effort to acquire. Here are the best recipes you’re able to get early, and the relationships you’ll need to grow in order to get them.

Romantic Relationships

No life-sim game would be complete without the ability to romance your fellow townsfolk. In Potion Permit, there are a total of six romance-able characters, with an even split between genders. The game lets you romance any or all of them, regardless of gender. You can’t marry any of them, but you can go on dates at various places in town.

In order to be able to date a character, you’ll first need to raise their friendship level three full levels. This means filling the friendship meter all the way up and completing a personal request for them after each level is maxed out. Once you have done this, you can trade five Moon Cloves for a Moon Broach at “Silky Stitch Tailor’s.” Simply give the Moon Broach to your desired partner to begin dating.
