Isabela Merced is set to play Hawkgirl in James Gunn’sSuperman: Legacy.The film is starting production this March and the cast of the film is well prepared to build this new film that will kick off Gunn’s new vision of the DCU. At the premiere ofMadame Web,Merced was asked about her preparation for the film and the screen test she did with her fellow actors.

Merced revealed toThe Hollywood Reporterthat she and the other actors in the film all got to do a screen test together recently which felt very professional. The actress had high praise for Gunn and stated that he has the best people working for him to ensure that the movie turns out in the way he wants it to. She said,
“I was directed by [Gunn] during the [screen] test for [Superman: Legacy] because I auditioned for this. I got to do [the screen test] with my other castmates, and that was really cool. It felt very professional; it was almost like a legitimate shooting day,” Merced says. “So I’ve already learned so much about his process, and this man … has the best of the best working for him.”
In addition to Merced, the upcoming film starsDavid Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Skyler Gisondo, and Nicholas Hoult. The film will be released in theaters on July 21, 2025.
