The resurgence of Battlefront 2 has increased demand for another Star Wars multiplayer shooter. Unfortunately, the original Battlefront gamesnever saw a third entry in the franchise.Don’t expect the modern Battlefront games to see a surprise third entry, either. Following EA’s cancellation of theBlack Panther gameand restructuring at Star Wars Jedi developerRespawn, it seems like EA is focusing its efforts elsewhere.
Following layoffs, Respawn said it is focusing its efforts on “raising the bar again for storytelling and gameplay.” Battlefront doesn’t meet those standards, as it is primarily a multiplayer game. DICE, who developed the last two Battlefront games, is reportedly working on the next Battlefield game.
