The Pokemon series has more than 1,000 different Pokemon now as of the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with the total available in Pokemon GO nearing 800 as of early 2023. There are plenty of those more than 800 that are much harder to come by than others, and Sigilyph is one of those specific Pokemon.

Like in the mainline games, getting a full Pokedex is going to take a lot of work and travel, as the game features a number of regional Pokemon that are not available everywhere. This started in the first generation with the regionals of Tauros, Mr. Mime, and Kangaskhan and has grown into many more since the game’s launch more than six and a half years ago. Sigilyph was introduced back in 2020 as a regional exclusive, which means you’re going to have to know just where to go to get one.

How To Get Sigilyph

Sigilyph is the Psychic/Flying-type Avianoid Pokemon that initially debuted in Pokemon Black and White’s Unova region. For that game, Sigilyph was only found in one area of the game called the Desert Resort, which is why it is very fitting that it is a regional exclusive to an area that is largely desert.

To find Sigilyph in Pokemon GO, you must travel to the region around Egypt, Greece, and Israel to find it. Considering 96% of Egypt and 60% of Israel is desert, while Greece also has a number of desert areas that make this a perfect spot for this regional exclusive to spawn.

Sigilyph In Pokemon GO

Sigilyph can typically be found in one of two ways in this region, in the wild or within 10km eggs. Unfortunately, you cannot have someone send a gift from the region and hope to get a 10km egg, as they only provide 7km eggs and wouldn’t give regional exclusives anyway. As a result, the only methods to get a Sigilyph legitimately in Pokemon GO are to actually travel to one of these regions or have someone that has done so trade one to you. Since Sigilyph is a regional exclusive, remember that trading for a Sigilyph will count as a special trade.

Like we’ve seen with other regional exclusives, we will hopefully see an event happen in the future that will allow those outside of this region to catch a Sigilyph, but these two are the only methods for the time being.

Is There A Shiny Sigilyph?

Like all other Pokemon, there is a shiny Sigilyph available in the series that alters the wing color to green, orange, and red, while having a black body and orange eyes. However, there is currently no way to get shiny Sigilyph within Pokemon GO.

The files of shiny Sigilyph have been found in the game even as of two years ago, but Niantic has not ever actually released the shiny for this regional exclusive to the public.
