The studio has released a development update about this today, and it seems the studio is close to a solution.
Palworld PS5 Save Issues Will Affect Save Slots Quantity
Pocketpair discussed the issue onsocial media, stating the results of their investigation and what solutions they came up with.
The developers mentioned how they have identified the cause of the PS5 save data loss issue, and it’s due to players having too many save data files (including autosave and backups) built up on the PS5 version. This causes a system error on the PS5 backend, which results in the game failing to save and thus corrupting the data.
To solve this nagging issue, Pocketpair is releasing a patch on July 10, which will limit the amount of save data on the PS5 version to a maximum of 10. There will also be improvements to the entire save system stability.
Palworld Surpasses 32 Million Players Across All Platforms
In just a year since its release, Palworld has now amassed over 32 million players.
Players who have more than 11 instances of save data on their PS5 should not lose them, though they might want to sort that out before the patch drops.
Palworld PS5 players who have seen the “CE-100022-5” or “CE-100096-6” error codes even once will likely see them again, and this is due to the corrupted save data. The only solution in this case would be to completely delete all your Palworld save data before playing.
For those hoping Pocketpair can reinstate their lost save data, Pocketpair has confirmed they do not collect and store save data on any platform, so this isn’t something the studio can do.
Hopefully, this patch on July 10 finally solves this issue, as I’ve lost count of how many updates Pocketpair has released to fix this problem to no avail. If you’re one of the many affected by this, it might be wise to limit your save data slots now, so you’ll be ready once the patch is applied.
