Even though Moon Studios previously said thatbringingOri and the Will of the Wispsto Switch would be an incredibly tall task, it seems as though the steps needed to port the game to the platform weren’t impossible altogether, as this year’s popular Metroidvania is today making its way to Nintendo’s console.
As the final announcement in today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Moon Studios and Xbox Game Studios revealed thatOri and the Will of the Wispswould be making its way to the Switch. Best of all, the latest iteration of the game will be hitting the eShop later today, which is something that I don’t think anyone would have expected when they woke up this morning.
Much like the first game,Ori and the Blind Forest, which came to Switch last year, Microsoft has continued to show a willingness to port games on platforms other than those that they manufacture. Considering how much more impressiveWill of the Wispsis compared to its predecessor when it comes to the overall visuals and animation work, I’m curious to see how many corners Moon Studios had to cut in order to bring the game over to Switch. For those who don’t remember,Will of the Wispshad some pretty notable struggles at launch on Xbox One. Hopefully, those issues don’t transition to the Switch iteration as well.
Last, but certainly not least,Ori and the Will of the Wispson Switch will also be getting a physical collector’s edition throughiam8bit. Pre-orders are available for the marvelous looking bundle right now, but it’ll set you back $149.99. Still, if you’re a hardcoreOrifan, this edition might be worth it.
