Charlie Sheen’s character inTwo and a Half Menis as flawed as one can get when it comes to a protagonist. Getting very little character development when it comes to his romantic relationships, he has been labeled as the perfect example of a red flag by many who criticize the series. Having left the series the same way that he came, his arc has been a tragedy in sitcom history.
However, despite all the hatred he gets, there have been moments throughout the seasons where he has shown himself to be capable of change. There is one episode in particular that showcases how Sheen’s character could have been a better boyfriend to all of his love interests had he tried a little harder.

This time is quite different, as Charlie is in a relationship with Chelsea, one of the most stable relationships in the entire series. Chelsea’s friend, Gail, played by Tricia Helfer, plays a very important role in the episode, having just broken up with her boyfriend and being in a very bad state. Being the good friend that she is, Chelsea asks her to stay with them while she tries to navigate this difficult time in her life.
While this could have turned into an episode about a couple helping someone find love like their own, Charlie gets in his own way and begins to fantasize about being with both of them, having a dream about the same.
Charlie Passed His Trial…Or Did He?
What madeGorp. Fnark. Schmegledifferent from all the other times Charlie’s character has messed up his relationships was the fact that this time he did not want to ruin what he had with Chelsea. He was afraid of what he might do if he was left alone with Gail and did not trust himself.
He eventually ran her away with the help of Alan and his constant ability to ruin his chances with women. However, the fact that Charlie was able to be a good boyfriend to Chelsea and not cheat on her showcases that he was capable of being better.

Ten episodes later, he slept with Gail while he and Chelsea were separated, doing it again when she said that she wanted to get together with him. It is safe to say that Charlie Harper is a very flawed character.
