The characters ofOne Piecewill always be one of the greatest aspects of the series. Eiichiro Oda takes great care in each character’s arc, whether they are one of the Straw Hats or a side character who will never come back. It’s always going to be an emotional and sometimes complex journey.

When it comes to complex characters,One Piecehad no end to them. However, none have a journey as intriguing as the Marine Admiral who turned into a Blackbeard Pirate: Kuzan.
His career as a Marine was complex. As a Marine Admiral, he was high up in the corrupt system and was a part of the Buster Call that destroyed Ohara. However, he lets Nico Robin live, defying his orders.

So it wasn’t a surprise that, once Akainu got the position of Fleet Admiral, Kuzan left the Marines. However, he joins one of the most dangerous crews instead. So, what exactly is Kuzan’s purpose inOne Piece?
Kuzan is a major player in the race for the One Piece but is his real target Imu?
In Chapter 1121, when Vegapunk declares the fate of the world lies on the person who finds the One Piece, Kuzan is shown. He doesn’t strike fans as the type to want the legendary treasure. So then, what is his real role in the endgame ofOne Piece?
Kuzan knows the World Government is corrupt, how it’s beyond repair with Akainu in charge, and wants to be free. However, joining the Blackbeard Pirates is a very odd move.

One Piece: Kuzan Losing to Akainu Highlights a Fatal Flaw That Puts Garp in Bad Light
This famousOne Piecefan account on X has a compelling fan theory on Kuzan’s motives. Foreshadowing back in the Punk Hazard Arc, Doflamingo had already coaxed an answer from the now Blackbeard Pirate.
That’s really a brilliant catch. As we know from Chapter 1121, Kuzan plays an enormous role in the endgame in One Piece.Chapter 699, Doffy asks what Kuzan’s goal is and what he stands for. In his glass you can see someone who looks like IMU.His Goal: Imu?😮@NaelTheAdmiralpic.twitter.com/F9nrY5Gc0S

The X user continues to add thatperhaps Akainu is partnered with Kuzanto destroy Imu after learning of their existence. However, an alliance between the two is unlikely.
Add:Do we want to continue the thought? On one side is Imu, on the other we see “flames”, what if this is all a set-up by Akainu and Kuzan. When Akainu spoke to the Gorosei he also asked if they had received an order from above (as if he knew about Imu). The Gorosei then…pic.twitter.com/ZhFMKsmJQa

One Piecefans react to this new tidbit, praisingEiichiro Odaif this theory comes true and how observant fans are to notice this detail.
Oda is legitimately the best storyteller in comics right now. Fact. When he delivers, he DELIVERS & he plots like he has Observation Haki
And he’s looking at Doflamingo who parallels Imu and is a fallen celestial dragon
How does someone even catch this this is crazy
How did you catch this?? Were you just looking through random chapters??
WTF, that’s definitely IMU in his glass and if Oda foreshadowed it that way then nobody ever should doubt him being the king of the foreshadow.
While we should still wait and see what happens with Kuzan’s story, this detail is too deliberate to discount as foreshadowing. Oda has foreshadowed Joy Boy well before the Wano Arc so it isn’t strange to believe he had thought of Imu too.
What else could Kuzan be up to?
It’s still incrediblyunclear why Kuzan joined Blackbeard. From going undercover to simply just wanting freedom,One Piecefans have made several theories about him.
The Admiral-turned-Pirate is not playing around. Hegave Garp a devastating defeat, despite being his disciple in the past. Whether it’s an act or he’s a true Blackbeard Pirate, he’s not holding back on anybody.
“Dude participated in a genocide”: What One Piece Fans Feel for Kuzan Might Push Oda to Make the Ultimate Sacrifice for the Mysterious Former Admiral
So if this fan theory comes true, Imu will be facing Kuzan’s wrath at some point. This isn’t a fight we expected but with the level of foreshadowing, we can expect an epic showdown.
