Just a couple years after its hit gameOctodad: Dadliest Catch, developer Young Horses announcedBugsnaxduring PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event.
Bugsnaxis a first-person adventure game where you play a journalist exploring an island called Snaktooth. The main character is invited to the island by Elizabert Megafig, an explorer on the island. When the journalist interviews Elizabert and a group of grumpuses, it’s up to you to explore the island and catch Bugsnaxs along the way.
“We just love making weird stuff. It’s been tough staying silent all these years, and it brings us joy and relief (and dread) to finally show offBugsnax,” says Kevin Zuhn, Creative Director ofBugsnax. “It’s so much bigger and weirder than we ever could have imagined when we started. It surprises and delights us constantly and we hope it has the same effect on all of you."
Bugsnaxis the first game from Young Horses since 2014’sOctodad: Dadliest Catch. For those that don’t know, Octodad has you play as an octopus disguised as a human as you do mundane tasks and spend time with your family, all while using the game’s wacky physics. The game came to theNintendo Switch in 2017and it’s evenavailable on the Wii Uif you have one of those lying around.
“We’ve also been hard at work integrating the features of PS5,” says Phil Tibitoski, President and Co-Founder of Young Horses on thePlayStation Blog. “I’ve personally been super excited to see the dynamic feedback of the DualSense controller bring life to our world! Feeling vibrations change with the terrain underfoot, the triggers tensing as I snap a trap shut on a Bugsnak, and then hearing its cute little chirp through the controller speakers right next to my face — it’s honestly so cool.”
In addition toBugsnax, The Future of Gaming event included major game announcements such asSpider-Man: Miles Morales,Resident Evil VIII: Village,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, andHorizon: Forbidden West. Additionally, we got our first look at the PlayStation 5 and some of the accessories that’ll launch alongside it.
Bugsnaxis set to launch on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 later this holiday. you’re able to watch the game’s trailer below if you’re interested.
