Lies of P, the action RPG from Neowiz and Round8 Studio, is one of the most surprising games released in 2023 and has stood out for the players among other soulslike games. The game has been a huge success and was also nominated for Best Art Direction and Best Role Playing Game at The Game Awards 2023.
Although it did not win any of those awards, players have loved the game and have been waiting to hear more about the sequel. While nothing much has been revealed officially, a new job listing suggests that the game will be developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Lies of P Sequel Will Be Developed With Unreal Engine 5
Lies of Phas been praised for its unique gameplay, captivating narrative, advanced combat mechanics, stunning world, and more that have kept players hooked on it. The sequel to the game has already been planned, and it seems like it will be developed using Unreal Engine 5. Thejob listingon Neowiz’s website states that the company is looking for a development planner for its next project inLies of Puniverse, which presumably could be the sequel.
The job description further states that the project will be based on Unreal Engine 5, as it aims to provide advanced graphics, in-depth level design, and a more intense action experience. The original game has been developed using Unreal Engine 4, and while it has impressive visuals and graphics, UE5 will bring a huge advancement.
UE5 has more features than Unreal Engine 4, such as dynamic lighting without ray tracing, better performance on less capable GPUs, and much more. Moreover, Unreal Engine 4 is now considered outdated and has also been reported to have several bugs and issues. Although not many games have been developed using UE5, many titles are now using the engine. Additionally, it was revealed that the sequel to the game will also be developed by Round8 Studio.
There are also several other openings at the studio, and all the openings have mentioned“based on Unreal Engine 5,”so it just might be a confirmation that the game will use UE5. The rumors of the DLC were also raised by another job listing that stated that the company was looking for a quest planner. It was also said that the DLC is planned for production soon based on UE5.
The studio revealed that the game had crossed over 1 million sales back in October 2023 and thanked players for all the love and support as it reached the milestone in just a month. The studio shortly announced that it is prioritizing the development of the DLC expansion and has also started working on the sequel to the game. It is not yet known what the DLC and sequel will bring for the players, but that has not stopped them from speculating.
It is rumored that the DLC will focus on Dorothy fromThe Wizard of Oz,and it could pave the way for the sequel. No release date has been announced for the DLC or the sequel, but since the developer is currently focused on the development of the DLC, the next game might only arrive after a few years, and seeing how Round8 Studio would like to deliver a more exciting experience for players than the original, the choice of UE5 makes perfect sense.
It is also possible that by the time the game is ready to release, there might be new hardware coming too, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the game release exclusively on the latest generation hardware then. The original game was a cross-gen release, and if the sequel launches on the new hardware, it may provide a more exciting and visually appealing experience for players.
