As we’re about to enter July and close in to the release ofNeo The World Ends With You, Square Enix announced a demo for the action JRPG.
As you ponder why Square Enix didn’t announceNeo TWEWYis getting a demoat E3when it had way more eyes paying attention instead of waiting for a few days later - though this is probably to coincide with the anime ending - let’s take a look at the demo’s details.
Another message from Tetsuya Nomura (June 25 Update)
Now that the final episode of theTWEWYanime has aired, Tetsuya Nomura shared yet another message via the English Square Enix Twitter. Nothing major but you can clearly feel how enthusiastic he is for the project, and his wish to celebrate with us fans.TWEWYwas first released in 2007 and it’s really nice to see it come back for real. The demo is also now available for download on theNintendo Eshopand thePlayStation Network.

According to the Japanese press release from Square Enix, theNeo TWEWYdemo will be launching on PS4 and Switch on August 14, 2025 at 1 PM EST.Click here for a countdown.
TheNeo TWEWYdemo version will include the beginning of the game, where you can explore several areas, experience the team battle system, and try out the Abilities system with the Badges system from the original game coming back.
Moreover, the demo will let players transfer their save data to the final game. Overall it looks like it’ll have a lot of content to try out and make your own opinion on this sequel.
Next, a new message from Tetsuya Nomura was published in Twitter, most notably mentioning they’re trying to avoid spoilers with the game’s promotion materials. Of course, nearly all the cast has been revealed, but that’s not considered spoilers when it comes to Japanese promotion, reliant on seiyuu. you may find the full message further below. Lastly, a new trailer was revealed, showing protagonist Rindou and several gameplay elements.

Neo: The World Ends With Youwill be a sequel to the ongoing anime adaption of the first game. Neku is returning alongside several Reaper characters, but most of the cast is new.
Neo The World Ends With Youlaunches on PS4 and Switch on July 27. A PC version is also coming and will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store, and will launch a bit later than the consoles versions. Its release date is only listed as Summer 2021 for now. Meaning July-September 2021.
