Lagiacrus was the cover creature forMonster Hunter 3, back when the series dabbled with underwater combat mechanics. Lagiacrus is a massive sea serpent that can fire lightning from its body, which means hunters really don’t want to be fighting it while wet.

Lagiacrus was last seen in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, being notably absent from Rise and World. Well, it turns out that the slumbering leviathan was just resting, as a new trailer on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel ended with a tease forLagiacrus’ return this Summer.

Lagiacrus Is One Of The Returning Creatures In Monster Hunter Wilds

Like its predecessors, Monster Hunter Wilds is adding returning and new creatures via free content updates. According to the Free Title Update 1 video released by Capcom, Mizutsune and Zoa Shia are coming on April 3, Arch-tempered Rey Dau is coming April 29, and an “Additional Monster” is planned for the Summer. Considering howpopular Monster Hunter Wilds is, fans should expect plenty more updates to come.

The trailer ended with what appeared to be Lagiacrus rising from the depths, suggesting that it will be the new creature added in the Summer update. Fans only glimpsed it in CG form, and it’s unclear how it will look in the Monster Hunter Wilds world. Chances are, it will look awesome, even if fans can’t fight it underwater anymore.

Lagiacrus has long been a popular creature in the franchise, having been ranked the third most popular monster in the series as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations.
