The latest stop motion animated series from Hulu âMarvelâs MODOKâ has only just premiered, but will the series return for season 2?
After the success of 2020âs âCrossing Swordsâ series, Hulu is looking to go two-for-two on the stop motion animation front.
Their latest series, Marvelâs M.O.D.O.K. (written here as MODOK), has only just premiered on the digital streaming platform, but has already caused quite a stir online.
So, will Marvelâs MODOK return for season 2 and if so, what date could it release on Hulu?
Marvelâs MODOK season 2â¦
Whilst Hulu may not have made an official decision on MODOK season 2 (at least publicly), itâs still early doors just yet - many platforms will wait to gauge viewer responses before greenlighting another season.
However, the signs already look favourable for the stop motion animated seriesâ return; with season 1 currently scoring 74% onMetacriticand 89% onRotten Tomatoes, despite only a 6.5/10 onIMDB.
The biggest note for fans of the series is that season 2 of MODOK is already being planned by the production team.
Replyingto a Tweet earlier this month about Melissaâs sexuality, co-creator Jordan Blum said that âSeason 1 focuses mostly on her relationship with her dad but season 2 will introduce her girlfriend.â
Another user replied saying âSo season 2 officially confirmed?!â, to which BlumrespondedâNot yet. Just need enough people to watch it.â
Blum has since claimed in an interview withComicbookthat he âhas got to do Season Twoâ and that he wants the sequel to contain some superhero heavyweights, the X-Men.
âThe X-Men flood gates have opened. So yeah, there are some bigger, bigger guys I’d love to have show up Season Two. You know, I think I would love to write a Storm/M.O.D.O.K. scene if I’m allowed to so… That would be my big pick, yeah." â Jordan Blum, viaComicbook.
MODOK season 2 release dateâ¦
As the series is yet to be renewed for MODOK season 2, a release date has not been officially revealed. However, we can make a prediction based on the production schedule for season 1.
The series was first announced in February 2019, with most of the main cast beingconfirmedby January 2020.
The majority of the writing, audio recording and stop motion animations werecompletedby October 2020, with the series premiering approximately seven months later.
Assuming that season 2 would experience a similar production schedule, fans can expect MODOK to return in early-2022.
