Sooner or later, Sony’s San Diego Studio will officially unveilMLB The Show 21as the next installment of the series. However, a new leaked banner of the game reveals that the next entry might be released on the Xbox consoles as well.
In case you don’t know, theMLB The Showfranchise has been exclusive to PlayStation consoles since its first entry back in 2006. Although Sony has started rolling out some of its PlayStation-exclusive titles onPCsince the last generation of consoles, it’s still a rare move for the Japanese giant to publish a first-party game on the Xbox consoles.

Recently,a leaked bannerfrom the Jackie Robinson edition of MLB The Show 21 revealed that the game will be available onXbox OneandXbox Series X|Sconsoles as well asPS4andPS5. If it turns out to be true, it’s the first time ever that anMLB The Showtitle launches on a console other than PlayStation.
Given that Sony’sMLB The Showseries is strictly leaned on the official licensing deal between the company and the USA’s Major Baseball League, probably a little pressure from the MLB headquarters could convince Sony to launch the franchise on a broader set of platforms including the current-gen and last-gen consoles of Xbox. Of course, this will bring Sony more income as the publisher of the series. It’s yet to be seen whether there will be a PC version in the works.
Sony’s San Diego Studio has been working on theMLB The Showseries for years now as their only major project. That being said, recently there were rumors around dividing the studio members into two separate teams, with one of them working on the current MLB series and the other one getting budget for a new triple-A IP.
