That meansBlade, Ghost Rider, and Magik help fight the forces of evil and Hydra throughout the story of the game. As the master of Limbo, a Hellish dimension between realities, Magik had a rough childhood and is ready to take her anger out in explosive, turn-based awesomeness. Acting as a damage character (who sometimes is difficult to pair with), Magik is all about using Knockbacks, moving enemies around the battlefield, and portals.

How This Magik Build Works
Magik’s Portal in the game is another completely unique mechanic to her character. In the same way that Spider-Man can manipulate environment attacks and Ghost Rider spends his health,Magik uses her portals in ways that lead to exciting, one-of-a-kind moments.In combination with a large number of Knockbacks in her card kit, Magik uses her Portal to heave enemies around the battlefield like rag dolls. In Midnight Suns, large damage bonuses can be earned from throwing enemies into various things. Explosive lava pits, demon hell holes, bombs, boulders, military explosives, and even other enemies will cause more damage when used. Magik’s main mechanic card,Limbo Portal, should be pointed at enemies or environmental hazards,and the ideal play is to stack cards that have Knockback likeSoul Blast, Kick, andQuick Soulslash.
So, having Magik be able to send any enemy into any spot in the mission can be incredibly OP with a lucky Knockback. Getting Magik’s Friendship level up early is also a good idea because her Legendary card,Darkchylde, gives her Invulnerability with a map-wide taunt.Gather is another vital cardbecause ithelps maneuver enemies into positionwhile doing decent AoE damage. Overall, Magik’s kit makes her a bit of a wildcard because her damage is somewhat reliant on the environment and a little bit of luck. In other words,she can run out of environmental attacks or good walls to throw enemies into. Also, because she lacks any direct defensive abilities without being a big-time damage character, it can be a letdown when her card draw is too unlucky during a match.

Best Magik Team-Ups
Although potentially confusing initially, figuring out how to best utilize Magik in Midnight Suns is rewarding. She doesn’t quite fit into any easy category of damage, support, or tank. However, with a bit of understanding and practice,Magik becomes one of the most powerful superheroes in the game and can wipe out entire waves with a few crafty portals. One thing to notice about Magik’s build is that she doesn’t rely on spending Heroism to execute her go-to strategy of flying enemies around like every mission isPortal 2. Due to this mechanic, Magik is free to do her best work while building up Heroic points for other damage-heavy characters to benefit from. So, while characters like Iron Man and Captain Marvel might excel by translating Heroism into damage, Magik simply builds up Heroism while doing her everyday damage. In fact, because she can use the environment attacks for free via her portals, she has the capacity to do huge amounts of damage while setting up her teammates to do damage through the Heroism she stacks up.
In that vein,Magik is not a support or tank but is best used when replacing a support or tank. Holding a spot in the traditional tank-support-attacker strike team isn’t going to be for Magik, which is in line with her rebellious personality. Magik is at her best when paired with unexpected combos or kill-everything-asap-type team compositions. So, characters likeGhost Rider,Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Hunter, Hulk, Nico,andIron Manall make fantastic teammates for Magik, mostly because the AoE damage of those heroes is perfect for all the movement abilities in her kit and herpassive, Relay, which generates portals when enemies pass through portals.
