The story wouldn’t have been nearly as entertaining or engaging without him. The presence of All Might inMy Hero Academiawas a reassurance that, no matter what, he would always save the day. This perception was challenged when his true condition was revealed.

However, All Might was cool regardless of his appearance, as it was a core aspect of the series, as explained by veteran character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshiduring an interview with Asia Pacific Arts.
All Might. He’s really fun to draw. There’s that gap between his macho version and his skinny version. And he’s the pillar of the story. In that sense, I really like him. If All Might is uncool, there is no My Hero Academia.
Umakoshi has been a part of many notable anime titles includingMarmalade Boy, Dragon Ball Super: Broly,andMy Hero Academia. He perfectly pointed outhow All Might was a pillar in the story, one that elevated the entire structure of the narrative.
There wasn’t much of a difference between how the characters perceived All Might and how fans perceived him. And his weakened frame didn’t affect that perception in the slightest.

He became a mentor for the young generation, overseeing their plans and assisting them in every way possible. As soon as he stepped away from the battlefield, his role and impact started to blur a little. But heroes like Star and Stripes, Deku, and Dynamight proved how All Might influenced numerous heroes. His towering statue was a testament to his legacy, which can never be tainted, replicated or altered.
