An industry insider has backed claims from aVGCreport surrounding remasters of Metal Gear Solid 1-3, stating that the upcoming remasters are “100% true” and that they have “heard that for a fact”.
The plan, according toDusk Golemis that a Metal Gear Solid revival will happen in the form of remasters for the first three entries in the series. Each of them will be available separately, but they will also be available as a bundle with the added bonus of getting Metal Gear Solid 1+2 MSX versions if bought together. This is not the first time this prospect was brought up, as VGCreportedbefore that these remasters are in the works ahead of another larger project related to a fan-favorite entry in the series.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater appears to have garnered the most attention, as the report states that there is a developer currently working on a large project related to this game. This developer in question is Virtous, who recently delivered Nintendo Switch ports of Dark Souls Remastered, The Outer Worlds, and Bioshock Collection, in addition to contributing art and content to ultra hits such as Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Apparently, these remasters are not only a part of a revival movement related to Kojima’s former baby, but it goes for all the prominent IP Konami currently holds.
Gameindustryreported last year that Konami has implemented a major restructure of its product divisions, which has spread some worry that Konami was giving up on game development entirely, but instead they clarified they just needed to take the appropriate steps to respond to the rapid market changes around them. Other credible rumors from journalists such asJeffGrubbstate that multiple Silent Hill projects are in development, along with a remake of the much loved Silent Hill 2, which could be the topic of the Tokyo Game Show this year.
There are a lot of other hints pointing at Konami going back stronger than ever, such as the creation of a newexternal publishingprogram, or theoutsourcingof a Silent Hill project to a prominent Japanese developer, which leads us to believe that these two iconic franchises are coming back one way or another.
It was recentlyannounced by Konamithat they would be announcing a new title in a “beloved series” during Tokyo Game Show 2022, but exactly what series the announcement will be related to is still unknown. Tokyo Game Show kicks off on September 15th.
