God of Warhas been one of the stronger first-party franchises under the PlayStation Studios banner, and the fans are eager to see where the developers take Kratos next. In every new project, the developers introduce a new weapon but some are suggesting one should be put to rest.

The Leviathan Axe was used by Laufey, better known as Faye or the Guardian, and gifted to Kratos after her passing. The weapon quickly became a fan-favorite but the heirloom may not fit in the loadout of future projects beyond the Norse Saga.

One Iconic God of War Weapon Should Be Left Behind in the Past

Santa Monica Studioshould be applauded for the great effort put into making the journey of Kratos one of growth. Previous games depicted the Ghost of Sparta as the ultimate killing machine and is fueled by the blood of his enemies, and apparently, his innocent victims of the past.

The original creatorwanted the players to feel like a blood-thirsty monster in the previousGod of Wargamesand this older and wiser version is a great contrast. Kratos can turn anything into a deadly weapon but there were some standouts, and in the gameplay aspect, some of these have to go to make room for more.

God of War Ragnarok Players are the Problem with the Game, According to Some

The weapon was introduced six years ago and the players made the most of the features like being able to recall it from any distance. The gaming community was also excited to see Kratos with his axe go head-to-head with Thor inGod of War Ragnarokand the developers delivered.

The Leviathan Axe was gifted to Kratos by his late wife who entrusted him to put it to good use which he did during the events ofRagnarokand ending the reign of terror by the Aesir Gods across the Nine Realms. Now that Kratos has made peace with his past and accepted his new role, it is time to let go.

God of War Ragnarok Was the Perfect Swan Song for the Norse Saga

It is hard to let go of something, especially if it has sentimental value. Kratos knows better than most what sentiment can bring about and would want to honor Faye by laying down her weapon in the name of peace.

The man is far more important than the weapon, Kratos may not be the god he once was but can make short work of his enemies with anything. The developers need the extra space to introduce a new weapon in a future game anyway.

Perhaps it will be brought back similarly to the Blades of Chaos but that would be repetitive. Kratos can manage just fine without it.

Santa Monica Studio set the bar high and has to push on. Sentimentality can make a warrior weak and be used as leverage in battle.
