After months of rumors and leaks Bioware has official revealedMass Effect Legendary Edition,which is a collection of the entire trilogy fully remastered and with new content. The announcement was made today to coincide with N7 Day (November 7th), which is essentially the official gamer holiday related to all thingsMass Effect.It was also teased yesterdayby publication Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubb, who blatantly tweeted out a blurred image of what looked to be the collection’s box art.
The announcement came from VP and General Manager of BioWare, Casey Hudson, inan official blog post. Hudson stated that their “team at BioWare has been hard at work updating the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three enormous games” and that “it’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements.”
According to said blog postMass Effect Legendary Editionwill include single-player base content and DLC fromMass Effect, Mass Effect 2, andMass Effect 3, plus promo weapons, armors, and packs – all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD. It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements on Xbox Series X and PS5.
This also means that Grubb’s other prediction was confirmed correct and theLegendary Editionwillnot be heading to Nintendo Switch. Also as previously reported on, the game’s launchis slated for next year– specifically Spring 2021.
