Marvel Snap: Best War Machine Decks
If you need some help finding the best deck for War Machine in Marvvel Snap, look no further!
Red Hulk is the new card for the first week of April and, while he may look like his green counterpart, his ability sets him apart from his peers. He can be used alongside Hulk or slotted into his very own decks, but he relies on building up his Power for a massive lane-carrying play.

Marvel SNAP
Best Red Hulk Decks
Red Hulk’s ability states, “When your opponent ends a turn with unspent Energy, +4 Power (if it is in your hand or in play).” This means that, in a perfect scenario, Red Hulk will end the game with 30+ Power. This is an impressive Cost to Power ratio, but how easy is it to actually achieve that perfect scenario? It is important to note, that Red Hulk will only gain Power from the opponent’s unused Energy if he is in the player’s hand or is played down on the board.
Red Hulk players can use a few different strategies to try and coerce, trick, or downright force their opponent into skipping a turn and reserving some of their precious Energy. While this may happen on a consistent basis, especially using the tactics described in the guide below, it doesn’t change the role that Red Hulk fills in a deck. He is a 6-Cost card with decent (potentially massive) Power output. Players will find the best use for this card in decks that need a late-game heavy-hitter or rely on hefty cards like this to solo an entire lane.

Because his ability depends heavily on the opponent’s play strategy, he isn’t the most reliable card in the game. This means, that most Red Hulk decks are unlikely to be centered on him alone but will rather incorporate him into already successful decks and archetypes to best take advantage of his potential Power-output.
When your opponent ends a turn with unspent Energy, +4 Power (if it is in your hand or in play).

Red Hulk Disrupt Deck
When players are using Red Hulk, they’ll benefit most when the opponent ends their turns with unspent Energy. How can this be achieved? By disrupting the opponent’s gameplay, which is where this beautifully devious deck comes into play. This deck focuses on disrupting the strategy of your opponent to help Red Hulk grow in Power for a final turn power-play.
Players have a few different options in this deck to stop the opponent from playing cards. They can focus on altering the Cost or ability of their cards, using plays likeIceman,Spider-Ham, andBaron Mordo. Alternatively, cards can be destroyed from their deck usingYonduorGladiator. Players can even put restrictions on the play in certain lanes using cards likeGooseandCosmo.Sandmanis a great card to play on turn five, as it forces players to only play one card at a time. This will essentially ensure a turn-six (and turn-seven ifMagikhas been played) boost to Red Hulk’s Power.

The opponent may find ways around these disruptions but it is likely that, if they do, they will have some unspent energy at the end of their turns. This is a great way to ensure that Red Hulk gains at least a bit of Power by the end of the game.

Red Hulk High Evolutionary Deck
One of the archetypes that Red Hulk will perform the best against is a High Evolutionary deck, so it may not be the most obvious choice to include him in one of these decks himself. There’s a bit of synergy with Red Hulk here, but he can be a backup just in case the player doesn’t pullHulkor they just need some extra firepower in a lane. This deck doesn’t revolve around Red Hulk, so the gameplay strategy is the same as most other High Evolutionary decks.
High Evolutionaryevolves cards with no abilities, giving them new uses on the board. Most of these new abilities focus on lowering the Power of the opponent’s cards or lessening the Cost of cards in the player’s hand. Hulk’s new ability causes his Power to increase for every unused Energy on the player’s side. This is easy to control and synergizes well withShe-Hulk, whose Cost lowers for every unused Energy on the turn before. UsingMagikearly in the game (and skipping turn six) means players could put down Hulkand She-Hulk on turn seven and, usingSunspot, none of that Energy will go to waste since he will absorb it and add it to his own Power.

Red Hulk Resurrection Deck
This deck does not focus on Red Hulk but benefits from his inclusion. The win condition for this deck is pretty consistent across games. Players should always aim for anInvisible Woman → M.O.D.O.K. → Hela combo. This will result in the player’s entire hand being discarded after the final turn only for them to all be brought back using Hela. This may seem difficult, but it can happen more often than players realize. There are some cards in this deck that help accomplish the ultimate goal, likeMagik(to increase the game to seven turns),Crystal(causes both players to draw a card), andJubilee(who can pull a card from the player’s deck onto the field).
Using these cards, players can greatly increase the likelihood of drawing Invisible Woman, M.O.D.O.K., and Hela. If these cards aren’t drawn, there is a fallback win condition. Playing Iron Man, followed by Onslaught, followed by the Living Tribunal can net some hefty points in every lane, but this relies on Magik and some lucky card pulls.

Best Red Hulk Counters
Since Red Hulk is above the 10-Power threshold of Shang-Chi, he is vulnerable to being destroyed. This may not be the biggest issue since Red Hulk will likely see the most action on the final turn(s) of the game, making it much harder for him to fall victim to Shang-Chi. Red Hulk’s play will likely be choreographed and potentially even predictable, so players should be cautious and try to anticipate a Shang-Chi attack.
Perhaps the largest counter to Red Hulk is his own RNG. Will the game play out in a way that results in some heavy Power-gain for Red Hulk? It’s impossible to say. As shown in the first deck suggestion above, players can lead their opponent in the direction of having unspent Energy but there is really no way to ensure this. For this reason, players may run into scenarios where Red Hulk doesn’t grow enough throughout the game to really have a substantial impact.
Best Red Hulk Synergies
Red Hulk synergizes with any card incentivizes, forces, or coerces the opponent into leaving unspent Energy on the table at the end of a turn. Cards that can accomplish this are ones likeSandman,Iceman,Spider-Ham,Baron Mordo, orGoose. Players may not be able to force their opponents to have unspent Energy as often as they’d like, but using cards like these can increase the likelihood of it happening.
Magikis a fantastic card to pair with Red Hulk! She adds an additional turn to the game, giving players more time to soak up Power with Red Hulk and increasing the chance that the opponent leaves unspent Energy laying around. Magik is a staple in most Red Hulk decks!
Is Red Hulk Worth It?
Players can obtain Red Hulk at launch in two different ways. One is by purchasing him using Tokens from the Token Shop. Here, he will cost 6,000 Tokens because he is a Series 5 card at launch. Players can also rely on Spotlight Keys to open Spotlight Caches for a chance to obtain Red Hulk.
There’s a lot of risk involved with Red Hulk, so it’s not the most reliable card to spend hard-earned Spotlight Keys or Tokens on. Red Hulk will be featured in Spotlight Caches alongside Echo andSebastian Shaw. Sebastian Shaw was December’s season pass card, so many free-to-play players may not have him yet. If this is the case, it may be worth spending some Spotlight Keys to try and obtain Red Hulk. If players already own Sebastian Shaw and Echo, it may be a good idea to skip this card immediately at launch and see what the response is after a few days.
