Best Annihilus Decks
Annihilus' Ability states “On Reveal: Your cards with 0 or less Power switch sides. Destroy those that can’t.” The ideal use of Annihilus' Ability is to throw several low-Powered cards onto your opponent’s side of the board, clogging up their lanes and stopping them from making any substantial plays on turn 6. Essentially, this means he’s perfect for a junk deck. The “junk” deck archetype already relied on filling your opponent’s side of the board with useless cards and messing up their deck’s strategy, so Annihilus is here to make that easier.
Many of the recent card additions (minus Gladiator) have had a more general Ability, allowing them to fit into several different deck archetypes. With Annihilus, this isn’t quite the case. He really only shines in a junk deck. While cases could be made for an Annihilus “Galactus” deck, it is a far better idea to play to his strong suit with a junk deck. The two decks listed below are both junk decks, but each one employs a different strategy.

On Reveal: Your cards with 0 or less Power switch sides. Destroy those that can’t.
Annihilus Junk Deck
This deck is a basic junk deck. The idea here is to fill your side of the board with useless cards, like rocks fromDebrii, duplicates ofMysterio, andSentry’s Void, and then play Annihilus on turn 5, throwing all of these to your opponent’s side of the board. Annihilus' Ability will destroy cards that aren’t moved to the opposite side of the board, so subbing in anArmorwouldn’t be a bad idea in this deck.
In this deck, turn 6 will have America Chavez as a guaranteed option, with other cards likeTitaniaandThe Hood’s Demoncoming in handy as well.Spider-WomanandMan-Thingcan also be useful, as they provide an additional blow to the Power on your opponent’s side of the board.

Deck Contents:
Annihilus Infinaut Deck
With this Annihilus deck, The Infinaut, She-Hulk, and Magik take center stage. The same idea applies here as with the last deck. Players should fill the board with cards likeDebrii’s Rocks,The Hood,Mysterio’s duplicates,Black Widow, andSentry’s Voidand then send them over to the opponent’s side. As long asMagikhas been played, players should be able to skip turn 6 and then, if drawn ideally, playThe InfinautandShe-Hulkon turn 7.Armorserves as a way to protect the higher-Power cards. Annihilus, She-Hulk, and The Infinaut should have enough Power combined to carry two lanes, especially if the opponent’s field is covered in junk cards.

Best Annihilus Counters
There aren’t a ton of counters for Annihilus. His Ability is really only canceled out byCosmo’s Ability, which states “Ongoing: On Reveal abilities won’t happen at this location,” stops Annihilus' Ability from happening at all. This is pretty avoidable in most cases though, as Cosmo will usually be placed on turn 3 or 4 making it easy to play Annihilus in a different lane.Killmongercan also be an issue since many of the cards Annihilus sends to an opponent’s side are 1-Cost cards. He can’t be avoided aside from usingArmorto block his Ability.
One card that can be a real pain isProfessor X. He will lock up whatever lane he is played in, which means Annihilus' Ability will not move or destroy any cards where Professor X is played. This can be a huge disruption to strategy and isn’t easily avoided. The best way to anticipate a Professor X on turn 5 is to useDaredevilorKang, though Kang is not recommended since your opponent can still change the card played to fake you out after Kang’s Ability has been used. Daredevil can be easily subbed into either of the two decks listed above.

Best Annihilus Synergies
Annihilus synergizes with quite a few cards. The most ideal cards to play with Annihilus are ones that will be sent to your opponent’s side of the board when his On Reveal Ability is triggered. These are cards likeSentry’s Void,The Hood,Debrii’s Rocks, orMysterio’s duplicates. You can also use Power-reducing cards to lower a played card and then send it to the opponent’s side of the board. Cards that help with this are ones likeHazmat,Yellowjacket,orMan-Thing.
