To coincide with yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, The NPD Group, an organization that tracks video game sales in the United States, released the list of best-selling titles on PS4, and it actually contained some big surprises. On the exclusives front,ÂMarvel’s Spider-Manis the top-selling game that has released on the PS4. This should come as no surprise giventhe previous sales milestones that we have seen the game reach. Even on the list of top-selling games overall on the platform, which is unsurprisingly made up ofGTA Vand variousCall of Dutytitles,ÂSpider-Manwas able to slot in at sixth overall.Following right behind Spidey on the exclusives list is that ofGod of War, which, again, isn’t too shocking.ÂGod of Warwasn’t just a critical success when it launched last year, but it sold millions upon millions of copies as well.

Where the chart gets a bit more interesting comes after the top two entries.Horizon Zero Dawnis the third best-selling exclusive on PS4, beating outÂUncharted 4: A Thief’s Endin fourth. Considering thatÂHorizon Zero Dawn, an entirely new IP from Guerrilla Games, was able to beat outÂUncharted 4, one of the most beloved franchises ever, definitely wouldn’t have been expected by me at first. Then again,ÂHorizon Zero Dawndid release afterÂUncharted 4, meaning that the PS4 install base was bigger at the time of launch. Maybe this helped contribute to it being in fourth.

The rest of the list afterward isn’t too shocking.ÂBloodbornefound its way into the top five, which is definitely great to see. Meanwhile,ÂDays Gone, which hasn’t even been out for six months, is already the platform’s sixth best-selling exclusive. Sony Bend has to be happy with how its new IP has done.

All in all, it’s safe to say that Sony has to be pleased with how well its first-party games have done this generation. Not only have many of these games been fantastic from a gameplay perspective, but many of the games mentioned here have sold spectacularly as well. Even though anticipation is now building towards the release of the PS5, it will take quite a lot for Sony to top the releases it has had in this PS4 generation.
