The advent of the DCEU meant that heroes and villains from the pages of DC Comics were going to be making their appearances on screen for a long while. But so far, Margot Robbie had proven to be the only one in the franchise to make her presence felt through multiple projects as Harley Quinn from the comics.

But as the DCEU’s chapter comes to a close, there are still several stars that don’t know the fate of their characters in the new DCU envisioned by James Gunn and Peter Safran. But some of them, including the actress allegedly in her recent interview, know that they will be the ones to leave their roles behind.

Margot Robbie May Be Leaving Her Role As Harley Quinn With Lady Gaga’s Entry InJoker: Folie Á Deux

With the DCEU in the rear-view mirror and the DCU gaining speed, several changes have been implemented ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, which has resulted in the complete upheaval of the old franchise for the new one. Along with that, many stars who once played iconic superheroes in the cinematic universe were also removed from the picture of the new future of the company, which may now includeMargot Robbieas well.

In a recent interview profile withVariety, theBarbiestar opened up about the success of her most recent film and what it meant for her production company LuckyChap Entertainment. Here, she was asked by interviewer Angelique Jackson whether she was going to continue to play the role of Quinn in Gunn’s new and upcoming DCU.

AsLady Gagais gearing up to make her appearance as The Joker’s accomplice in DC Elseworlds’Joker: Folie á DeuxwithJoaquin Phoenixas the titular character, the question becomes all the more important. She replied:

“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her.Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless.”

With this vague response to the question, one thing is assured the actress is excited to watch what Lady Gaga has in store for us as the iconic villainess.

What Do The Fans Have To Say About This?

While Robbie may not have given a straightforward answer to the question, fans on the internet have started making assumptions, and most have assumed the worst-case scenario for the actress’ future in the DCU.

And it makes sense given that version of Harley Quinn is technically done with the DCEU ending.

I’m assuming she is done unless James Gunn has an offer she can’t refuse

Let’s celebrate her great performance as Harley and if she’s finished hope the next actress can deliver something even betterpic.twitter.com/pRF4iscYGQ

As much as I love her as Harley, there needs to be a new Harley for the DCU.

It won’t be fair to the actors who aren’t returning if she remained and it wouldn’t be a good look for Gunn if another one of the actors from his DCEU projects remained.

Gonna be hard for someone to top her portrayal though

There may still be hope for the actress in the main DCU timeline since Lady Gaga will be part of Elseworlds, which means if Gunn and Safran decide to bring Quinn into the main franchise, then Robbie still has a chance.
