We started to hear multiple rumors around an upcomingMafiatitle recently, soon after Hayden Blackman, the head of Hangar 13, left the studio. Now, we have even more information on the story and setting ofMafia 4, thanks to a credible insider.
The Mafia series was introduced to the world with ground-breaking gameplay and story back in 2002. The game has always been remembered as a masterpiece when it comes to story-telling in the world of organized crime. However, the sequels toMafiacould never become close to the original version.
In 2021, Hangar 13 and 2K Games released a remake of the originalMafia, and although it was technically incredible, the developers still couldn’t manage to revive the same great atmosphere of the original version due to changing some of the brilliant dialogue lines of the characters, especially the protagonist.
However, the next project from Hangar 13 already sounds interesting if the rumors turn out to be true!
Mafia 4 Is Apparently Supposed to Depict Cosa Nostra Back in Italy
According to a recent podcast byXboxEra, featuring Shpeshal Nick, a well-known insider who is mostly known for their Microsoft-related leaks,Mafia 4is supposed to be a prequel to the original version of the franchise. Based on the info provided by Nick, the game is supposed to cover the life of Don Salieri in Sicily and his rise to power in the late 19s and early 20s centuries.
It remains unknown whether Don Salieri himself would be the protagonist or not, but it already sounds interesting as we haven’t had any big-budget game depicting Sicily and the born of organized crime from its homeland!
Gameplay-wise, Nick claimed that the game will still remain loyal to its linear story-telling. It’s yet to be seen how Hangar 13 is about to approach this slightly-linear gameplay style.
Currently, you can grab theMafia Trilogy, including the remake of the original game, the remastered version ofMafia 2, and the definitive edition ofMafia 3on PC and consoles.
