While his empathy and connection with the rest of the characters make him a character in name, he does not meet any other categories that build up this crucial role in a story. He does not have a back story, motivations, or intentions, and the only clue fans have about his life is that he has a partner. This can make viewers suspicious considering the type of series that they are watching.
However, they may finally get the answers they seek in the upcoming third film from the series.

Knickerbocker started by mentioning that he could not share much about the film itself. However, he then revealed that the new film is going to deal with parts of Benoit Blanc’s story that audiences have yet to see. Situations that they haven’t seen him in and events from his past that helped shape him into the person he is today.

In “Knives Out 3” — I have to be careful about spoilers — but what can we reveal about Benoit Blanc that hasn’t been revealed before and that’s supported by the script? How does he become the great sleuth that he is, but also be a human being, and who is this human being?
He also mentioned that the story will showcase how Blanc became the respected detective that the world knows him as now. It is safe to assume that a lot of fans would be excited to hear about these parts of Craig’s character.
What are the Implications?
While Terry Knickerbocker’s hints did not help in forming a perfect understanding of how the nextKnives Outfilm is going to play out, one can understand some things through the breadcrumbs that he laid out. One thing that can be concretely hypothesized is the fact that the next film is going to showcase more about Benoit Blanc’s character and his origins.
There are two ways that the film can handle such a plot. The first would be through characters from his past making appearances in his present. They could take on the role of delivering information about his past, be it personal or professional. Regardless of what approach the films take, it is safe to say that audiences are excited to see what they have in store.
