Speak of the Devil is a main quest inKingdom Come Deliverance 2and it focuses on Henry and Zizka attempting to save the Dry Devil from captivity.
After reaching the Devil’s Den and speaking to Zizka’s friend Kubyenka, they soon find out that the Dry Devil has been captured by a group of soldiers.
The main objective of this quest is to save the Dry Devil from captivity, which involves setting up an ambush against the soldiers who kidnapped him.
Make sure to have sturdy armor and a strong sword in your inventory, as there is a challenging fight that lies ahead.

Meeting at Devil’s Den
To start the Speak of the Devil quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, head to theDevil’s Den northwest of Kuttenberg. Once you arrive at Devil’s Den, Zizka will flag you down, and a short cutscene will begin.
The cutscene shows Zizka’s friend, Kubyenka, getting into a brawl with a group of men. It turns out Kubyenka hustled them in a game of dice, so it’s up to you and Zizka to defend him.
Due to Kubyenka and Zizka helping you out during this fight,only one enemy will be focused on you. Defeat him and the rest of the enemies to move on to the next quest objective.
After killing the men who were attacking Kubyenka, he will explain to Zizka and Henry that the Dry Devil has been kidnapped by a group of soldiers. This makes sense, considering the Dry Devil is considered one ofthe biggest criminalsin the Kuttenberg region.
While the Dry Devil is locked away in the town jail, Kubyenka explains that they plan on moving him to another location. The three of you concoct a plan to ambush the soldiers on their route and save the Dry Devil once and for all.
Searching for Hand Cannons
Due to the limited amount of manpower, Kubyenka suggests getting Hand Cannons to aid in the ambush, which he has buried somewhere in his campsite.Agree to this plan and get on your horse to follow Kubyenka to his camp.
After following Kubyenka and arriving at his campsite, speak to him about the Hand Cannons, and he’ll mention that he’s not entirely sure where he buried them.
In other words, we have to follow this drunk through the woods to various digging spots in hopes of finding the correct one.
Digging for Hand Cannons
Grab the Spade next to the tent(if you don’t have one) andfollow Kubyenka to the first digging spot. Unfortunately, the Hand Cannon isn’t in this one, but a niceSavior Schnappsis. Grab the Savior Schnapps to allow you to save your game in the future.
As you’re following Kubyenka to the second digging spot,he’ll stop and ask you to grab some booze he sees across the river. While you can help him here, there’s nothing in it for you. Feel free to tell him “Let’s move on, no booze” to keep the mission going.

The Ambush to Save the Dry Devil
Once you’ve arrived at the ambush spot,speak to Zizka to discuss the plans. A cutscene shows the soldiers carrying the Dry Devil in a wagon, and Henry, Zizka, Kubyenka, and the Hired Hands preparing to execute the ambush.
Unfortunately, after firing off the hand cannons, the dust clears to reveal thatthe ambush didn’t work. There’s a short dialogue sequence between Henry and the Captain, where you can attempt to flex yourspeech skillsto get out of this pickle.Failing the dialogue check will result in an all-out fight.

Just to be clear, I attempted this dialogue sequence a handful of times, and it always resulted in a large fight. My speech skills are pretty high, soit’s undetermined if there’s actually a way to pass the dialogue check.
The Fight for the Dry Devil
The first thing you should do at thestart of the fightisgo into your inventory and equip a different weapon. Remember, Henry was using the Handgonne in the cutscene, so that’s what he currently has equipped.The Handgonne will be no help in this fight.
The best way to go about this fight is to attack aggressively, starting with the soldiers who are distracted by your allies. You want tobe quick here otherwise your men will die, and you’ll be up against upwards of 8 soldiers all alone.
If you were quick enough to kill some enemies, there should only be about four or five soldiers left when your allies are defeated. Remember to dodge if enemies get too close and guard whenever a green shield appears in the middle reticle. Additionally,utilizing the Master Strike helped me tremendously in this fight.
If you’re havingtrouble with the fight, there are a couple of perks that may help. First, I recommend unlockingAgainst All Oddsunder Warfare, which raises Strength, Agility, and Warfare when fighting against superior numbers. Secondly, there’s theUnbreakableperk that increases stamina recovery by 20% when outnumbered in a fight.
After defeating all the soldiers, head over to Zizka (found on the small hill) and speak to him. The two of you will rescue the Dry Devil and the Speak of the Devil quest will be officially completed.
