While speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival panel (viaYahoo Entertainment), actorKieran Culkinshared a funny anecdote of how he remained clueless aboutHome Alonethe entire time he was on the set.
I saw it at the premiere and I was dying laughing. I was like, ‘Well, I guess that makes sense. Mac was on set a lot. I guess he’s the lead of this movie.’ I had fun doing it, but I really didn’t know what it was about.
He didn’t know thatMacaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister, was the main star of the film. “The babysitters count the kids’ heads and there’s this next-door neighbor kid who has one scene. I thought the movie was about him,” he said, referring to a random kid on the set.
The misunderstanding stemmed from a prank that costar Devin Ratray pulled on him. The actor “who played Buzz f—ked with me and told me the movie was about him. That kid worked one day and I thought the whole movie must be about him,” he laughed. Culkin felt sorry for the guy; he must have been upset to discover the film wasn’t about him after all.
