It’s a time for all professional Mortal Kombatants to come out and showcase their talent, and the newest game has a mechanic that allows them to bring backup. However, some fans have taken issue with this feature, and Ed Boon may not be happy with the criticism.

Are Mortal Kombat 1 Kameos Breaking the Game?

Many fighting games now allow players to choose assist characters that can be called in for specific scenarios. These assists can help keep the pressure on the opponent by allowing the player to either continue their combo or interrupt an attack and turn the tide of the fight.

Mortal Kombat 1implemented this feature, with a couple of changes here and there, as a quality-of-life upgrade, but not everyone was on board with the decision.

There are purists in every fandom, andMortal Kombatis no different. While some call the usage of particular Kameos a cheap tactic, others have sworn off the feature altogether, preferring to enjoy the game on a 1v1 basis. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s up against another person or just going through the game’s story; the community feels using Kameos trivializes the challenge.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Keeps Getting Compared to Avengers: Endgame, and After Khaos Reigns DLC Reveal, It’s Hard to Ignore the ‘Inspiration’

Such is the sentiment shared when watching a fight against two Skorpions. One of the players has Jax as their assist character and spams calling him in while the opponent is in a crouched block stance. Jax’s ground-pound attack knocks them down, guaranteeing damage, which commentators have called an “ugly” tactic.

The community agrees with this, as one reply to the footage states that while they like using Kameos, they don’t appreciate the ones that are used to get chip damage from a safe position. The footage does show the feature in a bad light, as it appears to be an easy route to victory that doesn’t require as much skill as going 1v1 against an opponent.
