After the incredible debut of theJujutsu Kaisenanime that propelled it to one of the best-selling manga of all time, the anime got greenlit for another season, to absolutely nobody’s surprise. The expectations for this season are quite high, considering the incredible animations andfight sequences of the first season.

Though the second season didn’t feature most of the main characters, it’s just as popular as the first one because it focuses on one of the most popular characters in the series, Gojo Satoru, and explores his backstory in more depth. This has led some people to question when the main storyline, featuring one titular Itadori Yuji, will continue.
Season 2’s Plot So Far
The start of the second season shows Utahime Iori andMei Meion a mission during their high school years, getting rescued by Gojo and his team, consisting of him, Geto, andShoko Ieri, the healer of the group. Afterward, Gojo and Geto receive a mission to be the guard detail for theStar Plasma Vesselso that she can assimilate with Lord Tengen without any hitches to the plan.
The next episode shows off both Geto and Gojo’s powers, having them dispatch various members of enemy organizations one after another with little to no difficulty. However, the big villain of the arc, Toji Fushiguro, remains in the shadows, waiting for Gojo to let his guard down so that he can strike at the perfect time.

Just as Geto, Gojo, and Rin are about to enter Jujutsu High, Fushiguro ambushes the squad and nearly kills Gojo. Geto and Rin continue forward to the basement where Tengen resides while Gojo stays to fight against the illusive assassin. Using his unique powers and incredible physical prowess, Fushiguro is able to defeat Gojo,seemingly killing himin the process.
During a heartwarming moment with Amanai Rin, where he offers to help her stay alive instead of assimilating with the mysterious Lord Tengen, Geto gets the shock of his life when a bullet instantlyends the life of the young girlwith no fanfare. Despite using agood chunk of his cursed spirits, Suguru is easily defeated by Toji. Afterward, the elusive assassin exits the building, only to be confronted by none other than Gojo Satoru himself.
Having masteredHollow Technique: Purpleand theReversed Cursed Technique, Gojo easily dispatches the same person he got defeated by not a few minutes ago. Toji confides in Gojo abouthis young child, Megumi, and then passes away. Partly because of this incident, partly because of the isolation of being left being, and partly from his natural disdain for weaklings,Suguru Geto becomes evil, planning on killing all non-jujutsu users to prevent new curses from being born. He massacres a whole village, kills his parents, and establishes a new organization to bring his plan to fruition, becoming one of the over-arching villains of the series.
At the end of this arc, the anime shows Gojo waking up to Megumi, Nobara, and Itadori Yuji, with the main cast finally making an appearance after five episodes of the second season have already passed.
The Next Arc
The previous season of the anime ended at the Death Painting Arc, with the main characters facing off against the Death Womb siblings, almost causing a major incident. At the end of the show, the three Tokyo students are recommended by Todo and Mei Mei to be promoted to Grade 1 Sorcerers.
The next arc in the manga, after Gojo’s Past arc, is the Shibuya incident arc. It will ramp up the stakes in the anime, featuring a major battle between the Jujutsu Sorcerors and the Cursed Spirits. The focus of the battle will be to nullify the power ofthe strongest sorcerer, Gojo Satoru. However, that doesn’t mean that the main character, Itadori Yuji, won’t play a big part in it. Gojo will take a break from the spotlight, or at least as much of a break as he can take, and the student trio will take to the big stage once more.
However, this next arc is a particularly chaotic one. It has multiple squads taking on important roles, so there will be a lot of perspectives and events to keep track of.
