Guess what? The ’80s classic,Road House, is making a comeback on Prime Video, and Peter Griffin would probably throw a party for it.

Doug Liman, known forSwingersandMr. and Mrs. Smith,is directing, andJake Gyllenhaalis taking the lead. They kicked off filming just a month ago in the Dominican Republic.
In case you missed the original, led by Patrick Swayze, it’s about a badass bouncer protecting a bar from a sketchy local businessman. Now, in the rollercoaster called Doug’sRoad House, they faced a load of issues threatening to mess up their movie dreams.

In 2013, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures started this project with Rob Cohen directing and Michael Stokes writing. Fast forward to 2015: Cohen and Stokes bail, and Ronda Rousey steps in as the lead.
Plans were set for filming the next year, but it all went on pause until November 2021. The 43-year-old and Liman then took the reins, despite having other projects on their plates. They even got a new writer, Sheldon Turner, to spice up the script.

But here’s the kicker: the pandemic hit, putting the brakes on MGM’sRoad House.Originally, they wanted a female lead (Ronda Rousey was the pick), but plans changed.
