In aninterview with Viz Media,Tite Kuboconfessed that Yhwach has the most lines inBleach: Thousand Year Blood War. The funny thing is that Yhwach’s voice actor, Takayuki Sugo, is not adept at katakana and was distraught at the news.
“The thing that was most memorable was that Takayuki Sugo, who plays Yhwach, had a hard time memorizing lines written in katakana.”
Apparently, Sugo translated all his lines to Hiragana first before he could memorize them. However, Sugo’s tone of voice made it even funnier for others. Even Japanese people struggle with katakana sometimes, so his confusion is understandable.

“While in the booth, he asked me, “Ichigo, Ichigo, how do you read this line?” and I said, “It says Bankai.” Then he said, “All right, got it. It’s Bankai.” But once we started recording, he said something else. [lol]”

“So I told him, “Sugo-san, your character will have the most lines in Thousand-Year Blood War.” To which he said, “Really? Isn’t there anything you can do about that?” [lol]”
Regardless of the challenges, Sugo did a great job, and Yhwach’s voice turned out to be deep and godly, which was always the character’s goal. The number of monologues and hints at his next moves also make the series equally amazing.

For Morita, a memorable moment during the recording was the interaction between Ichigo and Oh-Etsu Nimaiya, a member of the Royal Guard. SinceThousand Year Blood Warwas the first time that Squad Zero was introduced, they got to see how the new voice actors built and developed their respective characters.
“I should be quite familiar with this, but I thought it was memorable. Seeing a character gain flesh and blood and forming into a full-fledged character right before my eyes was quite amazing.””
Kubo sensei also joined in the lively conversation by showing that he too is a fan of Squad Zero. According to him, every cast member has been spot-on with theircharactersand roles. While Kubo himself did not have a good grasp for the new characters due to their lack of background, theVAs stepped in and completed the characters.
