Characters and their origins are often the subject of complex plots, surprising turns, and perplexing connections in the Marvel Comics universe. One such character, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, has long been linked to Reed Richards, the brilliant leader of the Fantastic Four. However, a groundbreaking new theory within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) proposes an incredible revision to Kang’s origins, linking him instead to the iconic T’Challa or Black Panther, played by the late Chadwick Boseman.

To say the least, this theory fundamentally changes Kang the Conqueror’s family history within the shared universe. Being a time traveler, he has appeared in multiple different incarnations in Marvel Comics publications over the years. He Who Remains & Victor Timely—Kang variants—made their debut inLokiseason 1, marking the beginning of Majors’ multiverse villain. He then made a comeback as Kang the Conqueror, one of the more villainous incarnations of the character inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania(2023).

Kang And Reed Richards Are Related In The Comics
Traditionally, in the comics, Kang the Conqueror, a 31st-century scientist, is a descendant of Reed Richards from the distant future. Equipped with advanced equipment and a clever mind, he is a time-traveling supervillain who seeks to rule over various time periods.
By using Richard’s technology, Kang travels through time, taking on different guises and identities and creating a plethora of variations along the way. Eventually, he forms the Council of Kangs, most of whom share the same objective of destroying the Avengers and gaining control of the universe.

Since Kang the Conqueror’s backstory has not really been explored in the MCU yet and no clear explanation for his evil intentions has been provided, some brilliant fan theories that could expand on Kang’s persona and link him to classic MCU tales have been put forth.
Jonathan Majors, who previously portrayed the character in theLokiseries, made his feature film debut inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania(2023).So what if we re-examine this history from a completely different angle?

Kang Could Be A Descendant of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa?
Kang’s ancestry can be traced back to none other than the illustrious Black Panther, T’Challa, who ruled over Wakanda with strength and grace, according to this ground-breaking theory shared onTwitter. As we mourn the tragic loss ofChadwick Boseman, this theory could inject fresh life into T’Challa’s character, potentially influencing upcoming MCU films.
Are we sure that Kang isn’t Killmonger or T’Challa’s ancestor from the Multiverse? Not saying it can’t be Richards, but hard not to think there could be a timeline where Wakanda perhaps didn’t keep their resources/tech secret and things went real bad for that universe.pic.twitter.com/NPMNAhiuVy

Let us look at the various possibilities to see how this unexpected connection could play out. In the MCU, Wakanda is known for its technological marvels, which far outperform anything the world has ever seen. Suppose that during his reign, T’Challa discovered ancient technology hidden beneath Wakanda that could manipulate time and space, allowing him to travel between dimensions. This discovery would spark an astonishing revelation: T’Challa’s secret descendants, including Kang himself.
The MCU has shown much of Wakanda’s technological advancements, which may account for Kang’s access to better technology. Given that T’Challa and Kang are both strong leaders, this theory is not completely implausible.
Interestingly, this mind-bending theory is poised to shake the very foundations of the MCU, leaving us intrigued by the possibilities. Could Kang’s Wakandan lineage explain his voracious appetite for conquering timelines? Does his relationship with T’Challa or Black Panther open doors to a rousing fight in future films? The answers are up to Marvel Studios’ creative minds, but one thing is definitely sure: the possibilities are breathtakingly limitless.
