InvincibleSeason 2 Part 2 saw Allen the Alien not only recover from his various injuries but basically come back stronger than a full-blooded Viltrumite. This is proven in his short encounter with Anissa, the “reasonable” Viltrumite who went to Earth to convince Mark to take his job as Earth’s conqueror seriously.
By the end of the episode, Allen allowed himself to be captured on purpose, probably as a part of a bigger plan. It must be noted that Allen was intercepted by the Viltrumites as he was returning to the Coalition of Planets from Earth, right after scanning Nolan’s books that reveal Viltrumites’ weaknesses.
Allen the Alien will reunite with Nolan going forward
As things currently stand, Nolan is in the Viltruimite prison, awaiting for him to return to full strength so that he can be carted off to his execution. The usually-ruthless Viltrumites are very keen on turning him over to their said again (which foreshadows a revelation we might get in the finale), while also trying to turn Mark to their side instead of just sending another conqueror to Earth.

Interestingly, Allen is also going to find himself in the same prison, given that he is now exponentially stronger, and therefore nigh unkillable. It must be noted that Allen has met Nolan before, as Nolan was the defender of Earth who was fighting Allen during Earth’s evaluation. Nolan And Allen, in the comics, bust out of prison together, before Nolan reveals a key kink in the Viltrumite Empire’s armor, one that has drastic ramifications for the rest of the story going forward.

In the comics, written byRobert Kirkman, it is revealed that Battle Beast is also trapped in the prison where Nolan ends up, and it’s the combined effort of Nolan, Allen, and Battle Beast that sees them bust out of prison. Battle Beast is to play an instrumental role in the story. The prison break actually sets up a lot for the comics, and will probably be the cliffhanger with which the story ends (or at least one of them).

InvincibleSeason 2 will be coming to a close pretty soon, andas much as the season has set up, there areenough cliffhangers to hook viewers for Season 3, given the revelations that have been set up. Allen, Nolan, and Battle Beast all play increasingly important roles in the story, which would be instrumental for a multitude of key points in the narrative going forward. The Prison story surrounding Nolan and Allen could have taken up an entire episode itself, but the show has famously fast-tracked a lot of its narratives by having a multitude of things happen simultaneously.
