Spider-Man has had quite a storied run in the panels of Marvel comics, providing a lot of fans with breathtaking moments such as his appearance in Secret Wars and the Spider-Verse. However, as is the case with most long-running superheroes, Spider-Man has had his fair share of off-putting and revolting storylines that fans wish never existed to begin with.
One of the many problematic story arcs that involved Spider-Man wasOne More Day, a story that left fans more than a little agitated. It erased from Marvel canon the longstanding marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, destroying one of the many relationships that viewers rooted for the most in the Marvel Universe.

Marvel Editor Nick Lowe had something to say about the controversial storyline
In the letter included in Issue #39 ofThe Amazing Spider-Man, editor Nick Lowe addressed the reversal of the infamous storyline, a part of which was adapted for the MCU inSpider-Man: No Way Home. The editorwrote:
“As for ‘One More Day,’ we have mostly moved on, and I wouldn’t hold my breath for an undo any time soon, but I’ll never say never.”
Marvel has had a longstanding stance aroundOne More Day, saying that it will stay canon regardless of its controversial nature. The adaptation of the story inNo Way Homewas much better received, given that it had the most gut-wrenching cliffhangers in the MCU.
While what the editor has said is very much in line with Marvel’s stance on the matter, the consensus from fans essentially shows that the company might be aiming at putting enough time between the event and the current run of the character, so that it can be simply brushed under the rug rather than be addressed again and again or be outright redone.

Peter Parker and Mary Jane are happily married in other universes
While the comics might have Peter and MJ reeling from the deal made with Memphisto, there are other versions of the character that are still happily married to MJ, with a child in many of those universes. In the most recent Spider-Man film,Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, Peter Parker gets together with MJ, after a divorce. They even have a daughter, Mayday Parker, who also exists in the comics, named after Peter’s beloved aunt May.
WhileNo Way Home‘s humongous cliffhanger was well received, it is expected by numerous fans that Peter will eventually get back together with MJ, even expecting Ned to remember the former in some manner or another. Restoring one of the most beloved couples in the MCU should be Marvel’s priority for coming Spiderman stories unless they crave to repeat the fallout from the comics.
