Helldivers 2is the hottest game of 2024 and numerous stories and anecdotes keep emerging from the battlegrounds of the game. One such story is the ‘Legend of Cadet-06’ as coined by Helldivers who have come across the story.
The story of Cadet-06 is one that defies all odds as a group of players battled their way out of a particularly resilient Terminid swarm in the Suicide Difficulty Setting. Anybody who is acquainted with the game knows exactly how difficult it is to play in the Suicide Difficulty and that too at Level 6 is virtually impossible.
Not only did Cadet-06 prove doubters wrong, but they were crucial in the success of the mission which contained far more battle-hardened Helldivers who had all but given up hope for the mission succeeding.
A Legend Is Born in the Hell Fires of Helldivers 2
A Reddit user named DanceClown shared an astonishing story of grit and perseverance on the community forum detailing the daring journey of Cadet-06 on their way to becoming a legend of the game. The story has gone viral already with over 20k upvotes to it.
Saluting the bravery of Cadet-06, DanceClown starts the story by saying that they had all shrugged Cadet off as they dropped into a Suicide Difficulty mission despite being Level 6 and having only an orbital strike and stalwart. The author also says how Cadet-06 never complained about dying to multiple chargers or titans and instead stuck by the team in the quest for spreading managed democracy.

Any Helldiver worth their salt knows the importance of the samples collected as they are integral to the success of a mission. The legend of Cadet-06 takes a turn for heroics when one of the team members drops their huge stockpile of samples and has to retreat due to the incessant bug breaches. Cadet-06 breaks away from the team then to clear out a light bug nest.
As the rest of the team watched the Cadet clear out the nest, they stared on as they realized that the Cadet was going to for the dropped samples instead of coming for extraction. The rest of the team kept on watching as the health of Cadet-06 went up and down as the bugs attacked and they used stims to replenish their health.
Once the last stim was used, a notification alerted the team that the dropped samples had been picked up. And that is when Cadet-06 asked the team to call for extraction. The team members who were mere spectators till this point in time saw Cadet-06 crest the hill and declare, “they were close“. Then the entire team let their orbital lasers, clusters, and 500s loose to take out any advancing bugs as they celebrated Cadet-06’s retrieval of the vaunted samples and returning in style.
Tough Times Create Legendary Helldivers
The ‘Legend of Cadet-06’ serves as a reminder of the valor and heroics of Super Earth’s propagators of managed democracy. The author ends the story by saying,
I salute you, Cadet. You are the Helldiver we should all strive to be.
DanceClown, the author of the post, expresses their regret for not being able to find Cadet-06 again. As they have already dropped multiple times since the legendary interaction, their list of recents has refreshed making it virtually impossible to locate Cadet-06.While players are squashing bugs left and right, the developers are also struggling to squash bugs of a different kind.
But the story of Cadet-06’s courage, perseverance, and valor is a welcome reminder to all Helldivers that none of them are insignificant as long as they are fighting the battle for Super Earth.
