When it comes to the topic of Marvel’s future, conflicting opinions seem to surround the conversation. While some have complete faith in the franchise, others are more wary about the direction it is taking. With this in mind, Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverinewas supposed to act as a salve to this problem, addressing all the problems head-on as an attempt to get a clean slate.

However, it seems to have sprouted an even bigger problem in the eyes of many, which comes in the form of a beloved mutant. Recently, the creator ofX-Men ’97,Beau DeMayo, reacted to a rumor about the nextAvengersfilms that could very well be true, and he is not happy.
Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverinehas created a very big opportunity for one mutant
AlthoughChanning Tatumdid not get his solo Gambit film in when it was first announced, a simple appearance as the character inDeadpool & Wolverinehas left a lasting impact on fans. So much so, that conversations about his solo film coming out of development hell have fans ecstatic. WhileRyan Reynoldshas teased more than once about Tatum’s future in the franchise, it would apparently seem that it is not isolated to one film.
Recently,Cosmic Marvel on Xreported that there have been rumors about Tatum’s future in the franchise. In fact, there is a possibility that Gambit will appear in the next two Avengers films, alongside Beast, who made a cameo inThe Marvels,as well as Professor X. While one would expect everyone to be excited about the possibility, there are plenty of fans who believe that this should not be the fate of Gambit’s character.

Channing Tatum’s MCU Return: Gambit Will Get Another Shot to Make a Name For Himself But This Time in Avengers (Report)
Conversation first arose about Tatum playing the role of the character more than ten years ago. In this time, the actor has naturally grown up quite a bit. If he is to play a long-running version of the character, it would be for at least ten more years, considering the fact that the franchise has just begun introducing Mutants into the scene.
With this in mind, many believe that Tatum should not play the character, and among them also seems to be the creator ofX-Men ’97,Beau DeMayo.

A big gamble in the eyes of Beau DeMayo
AlthoughBeau DeMayohas lost quite a lot of credibility in the eyes of the fans after he was fired from Marvel Studios, he still continues to provide insight and his opinions about the franchise’s future. Most recently,he commentedon the rumors surrounding Gambit’s presence in the next twoAvengersfilms and the fact that Channing Tatum could be playing him.
Having been a very heavy contributor in the first season ofX-Men ’97,one can imagine that DeMayo is very protective over the X-Men. Due to this, when he first heard the news, he started by mentioning that he did not wish the news to be true for one very big reason. The writer does not want Marvel to use the mutants as a band-aid for a bleeding franchise.

Ugh, I really hope this isn’t true.#XMenare a chance to refresh and revitalize the#MCUinstead of using them as life support and diluting/over-complicating what could’ve been a much needed fresh start. Almost as desperate as Beast’s cameo in The Marvels 😮💨https://t.co/IQMuPWOCWe
Deadpool 4: MCU’s New Cash Cow Ryan Reynolds’ Shock Update Can Be Bad News for Kevin Feige but It’s Exactly What Fans of Channing Tatum’s Gambit Needed
He mentioned that the franchise should look at mutants as what they are: a new chapter that can exist completely on its own with little to no influence from the Avengers. While more than a few fans would love to see Tatum put on his cape again and make a name for himself, there is no denying that DeMayo is making some good points.
