But among her wave of ideas, Sweeney particularly had one request that sounded truly bizarre. Speaking withEW, the actress noted how she requested a badass scene for her character by the end of the movie.
“My big thing was, by the end of the movie, I just wanted to be drenched in blood. I love those moments where, at the end of the film, you have the female badass that just went through the wringer and takes it all at the end.”

Citing projects likeReady or NotandCarrieas examples of inspiration, Sydney Sweeney proceeded to mention why she chose a horror flick, compared to her previous works. Admitting how she’s a big fan of the horror genre and jump scares, Sweeney stated that she wanted a mixture of everything inImmaculate. Previously working with Michael Mohan, the actress noted how easy it was for thedirector to understand her vision.
“I am a big fan of all types of horror genres, and I really wanted something that had a bit of a mixture of everything. I love jump scares, so I pushed for a lot of jump scares in the movie. Mike likes a lot of psychological thrillers, so a lot of the longer, more thrilling psychological shots were from him. So it was just a mixture of all of our favorite loves from horror films, and then creatively what’s fun and interesting and exciting and pushes the boundaries to do.”

Additionally, the movie doesn’t have a traditional supernatural antagonist. Instead,Immaculateconsists of an evil entity purely of the human variety. Therefore, excited to see how her film performs at the box office, Sydney Sweeney went on to discuss her film in detail, throughout the interview.
