I have no interest in past works, and I accepted this collaboration because of the enthusiasm of Light Flyer Studio, so “Angel Beats!” is nothing more than a past work that became a hit thanks to the support of those around me.

Fans of the anime are probably as excited about the collaboration as Light Flyer Studio, but now, Maeda’s comments might somewhat dampen the excitement.

Unlike most other current anime,Angel Beatswas an original series that received 13 episodes. The story and screenplay were conceived by Maeda while composing the music with Anant-Garde Eyes. Fans love the anime for its unique setting as well as the suitable music. However, the creator himself is suspicious of the anime’s popularity.
I think the reason the work became a hit was exactly what the producer at the time intended. Since I was the one who was produced, I still don’t know what the reason for its success was.

Angel Beatsis one of the few series on which otakus have extremely divided opinions. While some consider it unworthy of time, others worship it for its revolutionary story. To those who like the anime, the visuals, unexpected twists, and consistent tugs at the heartstrings make the series gold.

It is considered a repetitive creation by Jun Maeda, who previously wrote Air, Clannad, and Canon, all of which have been about high school girls with issues. Many claim that the anime has an incoherent setting. But at the end of the day, it is still a nostalgic anime despite its flaws.
