Again, I had no idea that that was even an audition. I was wearing jean shorts and just acting weird, according to Mike Schur. I don’t know what I was doing that was weird; I just didn’t know how meaningful the meeting was.

Aubrey Plaza added that her memory of the first interaction is “very hazy“. It is Mike Schur who is always like, “And then I met the weirdest person I’ve ever met when she walked in.” The 40-year-old asserted that she was only distracted because the meeting was taking place on the set ofThe Office.

It is undeniable that there was very little to act for Plaza as the entire character was based on her real image. The Golden Globe winner also found it funny how the character even shared her name in the original pilot and she had to audition to play herself.

I mean, in the original pilot, the character’s name was Aubrey. They literally wrote the character as me—a heightened version of me, I would say. But then the funny part about that, too, is that I had to audition to play myself, because the network didn’t know who I was.

WhileParks and Recreationbrought Aubrey Plaza’s personality to the worldwide audience, she does not prefer characters tailored for her. As a dedicated actress, she wants to act instead of being herself everywhere. Now, it will be exciting to see if the actress can provide another praiseworthy performance as Rio Vidal in the upcoming MCU seriesAgatha All Along.

Parks and Recreationcan be streamed on Peacock.
