As a result, when it came to filming his yet another successful and acclaimed film,The Town, Affleck was initially apprehensive about filming the crime thriller there. In an interview withMovies.ie, the former DC star stated,
I was actually hesitant purely because of that. I had done my love letter to Boston with Gone Baby Gone, and I didn’t want to repeat myself.

But the story got to me. I just loved the characters here, the journey they go on. You just feel it in your bones, and it makes the whole process so much easier. And satisfying. I had a lot of fun making this movie.
Affleck did make the right choice of filming in the American city, for it is hard to imagine the 2010 crime thriller set anywhere else other than Boston. Now one of his best movies to date, the actor’s decision ultimately ended up being right for the city’s vibes and aura perfectly complimented the film’s chilling and action-laced theme.

I honestly felt like I would kind of end up being pigeonholed as Boston Crime Guy – not that there aren’t interesting and good movies to be made in the crime genre in Boston, but I wanted to tell different stories.
His persistence to avoid filming in the city eventually led toArgo, another of Affleck’s most successful films which allowed him to travel worldwide and avoid being typecast.
