It’s been four months sinceIt Ends With Uspremiered in theatres, and what seemed like a revival of Blake Lively’s career turned into a nightmare after her controversial feud with director Justin Baldoni. Following the movie’s release, reports claimed that the latter allegedly “fat-shamed” the actress on set.

Lively reportedly took the comment in a different way, and seeing she had just given birth the same year, many speculated that she must have been feeling quite sensitive. On the other hand, Baldoni shared his struggle with an injury and that his only intention in asking about the actress’ weight was to protect himself from straining his back.
Justin Baldoni shares back injury story amid Blake Lively’s accusation of fat-shaming
It was very evident during the promotion ofIt Ends With Usthat something was amiss, and fans were quick to point out howBlake LivelyandJustin Baldoninever appeared together on the red-carpet premiere or even in pictorials. The alleged feud between them stemmed from on-set disagreements, one of which was reportedly after the director asked about Lively’s weight.
A source toldTMZthat there was a scene where Baldoni had to lift his co-star for an intimate moment. The actor had a history of back problems so he went to his on-set trainer to ask for the actress’ weight.

When Lively found out Baldoni’s comment, she felt fat-shamed and bothered, especially after she had just given birth to her fourth child withRyan Reynolds. Another thing that made the actress uncomfortable was during one kissing scene where her co-star lingered longer than what was required.

The outlet revealed that the cast and crew obviously felt that there was bad blood between the co-stars, but Baldoni’s reported injury should not be disregarded. In anInstagrampost, viaThe Sun, he talked about his health struggles: “Nine months ago, when I went in, I could not sit on my heels.” He also revealed he had shoulder problems, and that he needed medical attention to fix the herniated discs in his back.
If Baldoni’s claim is true, then it was only proper to know Lively’s weight before proceeding with the scene as it was stated that he could not lift more than 45 pounds.

There would have been no issue had Justin Baldoni spoken directly to Blake Lively
Perhaps the issue lies in the way Baldoni relayed his question. A fitness expert shared viaThe Sunthat things would not have escalated this badly had the director spoken with Lively in person rather than through a third party.
At this point, no one knows if they have talked through this matter in private, although seeing how massive the issue has become, as there had been lawsuits involved, it does not seem like they would speak with each other anymore.
