Hashino aims to create a fantasy game that goes beyond empty worlds of fiction and helps players reimagine their lives.
When the party is traveling with their Gauntlet Runner through the myriad of lush and exotic locations in the kingdom of Euchronia, you can use the cooking facility to create consumable dishes with powerful effects.
While most ingredients are easily gathered during the adventure, some are harder to get, especially when cooking the final dish. As a bonus, anyone who cooks all the meals will earn a trophy/achievement.
How to Cook in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Cooking is as easy as pressing a button, but it can only be done when the Gauntlet Runner is hiking, as it won’t have the power to run its facilities otherwise.
After selecting a destination on the Gauntlet Runner’s map and starting your voyage, you can head to the kitchen, which is found between the pantry and the lounge.
Interact with the cooking table, and some recipes will materialize. You unlock more recipes as new party members join. After cooking all the dishes, the final recipe is unlocked automatically.
Cooking takes an entire afternoon or night. However, if you raise Maria’s rank to level 4, you’ll learn Speed Cooking and can cook without spending time. We highly recommend starting to cook after Maria reaches rank 4.

Many cooking ingredients inMetaphor: ReFantaziocan be bought from merchants in the five main cities, while others are found in villages on their outskirts or bydefeating monsters in dungeons.
By the end of the game, the capital of Grand Trad’s practically becomes a gourmet hub, offering most of the ingredients in the game, except for the rarer ones.
We’ll list all the ingredients here and where to find them. Some are monster drops, and others are rare or limited findings. We’ll elaborate on rare ingredients in the section below.

How to Cook Sublime Spoonful
In a regular playthrough, if you visit all the villages around the main cities, purchase limited ingredients, complete most requests, andventure into several dungeons, you can cook most dishes except for the final one, the Sublime Spoonful.
If you’re missing one of the traditional dishes, it’s likely because you didn’t find one of the rarer ingredients, which, not coincidentally, are also used in theSublime Spoonful meal.
The Sublime Spoonful effect is insanely powerful and has the potential to make even the most brutal boss' fights into a breeze. Adding four turn icons in a battle is just what you need to super-buff a character and then deliver a devastating strike.
However, to make the dish, you need some hard-to-get ingredients.Metaphor: ReFantazio’s rarest ingredients are the Lord of the Lake, the Queen’s Honey Jar, and the Gauntlet Shrooms. All can be found during a Gauntlet Runner voyage.
Before using your hard-earned ingredients on the best meals, raise Maria to Rank 7 to learn Chef’s Chops. With this ability, an additional dish will be made after cooking.
Where to Find Lord of the Lake
When you reach Virga Island, the Gauntlet Runner’s travels will be by sea, allowing you to fish with Heismay.
While fishing with him, two variables determine the fish you catch: the bait used and the option chosen when prompted.
Fishing for the Lord of the Lake requires theTail Bait, sometimes found after cleaning the Storage room or randomly planting and harvesting the Hero’s Jewelled Rootin the Gauntlet Runner. Save-scumming is your best bet here.
you’re able to also find a Tail Bait by handing a Medicine to the Man in Pain NPC in Arenafront Wharf at Brilehaven. He appears before going to Louis' soirée.
Hero’s Jewelled Root can be bought in Silento, a village near Virga Island, and from the Flower-Selling Woman in Altabury Heights.
Afterward, take a trip to any dungeon on Virga Island to enable the fishing option with Heismay during the Afternoon. Once you start the activity, you’ll get two conversation variations, and depending on your answer, it’s possible tosnag more Lord of the Lake or even Queen’s Honey Jar, another rare ingredient.

Your answer will depend on which ingredient you need the most. If you’re fishing with Tail Bait, it’s recommended that you aim for more Lord of the Lake.
That’s because if youuse Worm Bait or Grasshopper Bait, you can also gather Queen’s Honey Jar by selecting the same answers. The only difference is that you’ll catch Limp Goldfish and Brocaded Koi instead of the Lord of the Lake, respectively.
Worm Bait and Grasshopper Bait can be bought from the Bug-Selling Boy in Martira.
You can buy up to two Queen’s Honey Jars in the Water Shop on Virga Island. It’s highly limited, but it’s better than nothing.
Where to Find Gauntlet Shrooms
Gauntlet Shrooms is one of the most elusive ingredients inMetaphor: ReFantazio, even more so thanthe slippery Gold Beetles. Collecting them is easy, but it depends on your luck.
Every day, you can go to the pantry in the Gauntlet Runner and gather some random ingredients, even when the vehicle is parked in a city.
Occasionally,Gauntlet Shrooms will be one of the ingredients found in the pantry. However, there’s no telling when it will pop up, so we suggest visiting the pantry whenever possible.
For context, in one playthrough, we managed to gather 5 Gauntlet Shrooms in total, enough to cook all the dishes at least once.
However, we didn’t visit the pantry as often as possible, only when the Gauntlet Runner was en route. If you want to guarantee you collect the ingredients, set a reminder to visit the pantry daily.
