Honkai Star Railhas proven to be full of fun things for players to do. You get to take on the role of The Trailblazer, a mysterious being who wakes up with a Stellaron, a powerful force of energy. You are able to harness the power of these forces, much to the shock of those around you.

Throughout the world of Honkai Star Rail, you will come across different types of currencies. Each currency is used for various purposes and in different ways. Therefore, it can be pretty tricky to figure out which currency is for what.There are eight main types of currencies you will run into during your adventures. These are Credits, Hertareum, Oneiric Shards, Star Rail Passes, Star Rail Special Passes, Stellar Jade, Undying Embers, and Undying Starlight.
Credits are the most common type of currency in the game. You are able to obtain them by playing through the game naturally. They will come fromcompleting quests, investigating objects, adventuring, destroying objects, killing foes, and opening chests. You can also obtain them as rewards for certain achievements such as increasing your Trailblazer Level.

This currency will probably be the first one that you encounter in the game and will more than likely be the one you use the most. The in-game description reads “This currency, used by the Interastral Peace Corporation to settle accounts with its customers, is now widely accepted as the hard currency for space travel.”

Credits are used for a variety of things. For instance, if you want tolevel your character up, you’ll need to use Credits along with the items used to level up.These can also be used to upgrade your Weapons and Light Cones.Finally, you will also be able to purchase things from various merchants using this currency.
Hertareum is the main currencyused within the Herta Space Station. It can be collected by completing quests and opening chests in this specific area. The in-game description reads, “The cryptocurrency circulating internally in the Herta Space Station. Can be used to purchase goods in Special Stores.”

to purchase things with Hertareum, you need to go to a specific vendor.Her name is Wen Shiqi. Wen is located in the Master Control Zone of the Herta Space Station. On your map, she is marked as the “Internal Purchase Officer.” With this currency, you can purchase materials, relics, and recipes for your adventures.
Oneiric Shard
The Oneiric Shard is a special currency.The only way to obtain it is to purchase it with real money in the in-game shop.It can be traded for Stellar Jade as well with a 1:1 ratio. Its description says “Lights flicking in a sea of stars, stirring the dream of a Leviathan. The past turns into candles that light the darkness ahead.”
This currency can only be used in the Contract Shop to purchase Contracts.These are basically bundles of supplies that can be used to upgrade your character and items.

Star Rail Pass
This currencycan be obtained through certain events and special quests. Additionally, you can obtain them bytrading other currencies for them. You can find them in the Starlight Exchange, Embers Exchange, and Stellar Trade shops. The in-game description reads “Astral Express Universal Pass. Travel as far as the Star Rail stretches.”
A Star Rail pass is howyou obtain new characters and Light Cones. The way you do this is by going to the Warp section and selecting either a Starter/Departure Warp or Regular/Stellar Warp.

Star Rail Special Pass
The Star Rail Special Passes are rarer than regular Star Rail Passes.They can be obtained through the Starlight Exchange, Embers Exchange, and Stellar Trade shops as well. Their in-game description reads, “Direct ticket for the Astral Extress with coordinates of specific words, suitable for passengers who just want to from point A to point B.”
What makes the Star Rail Special Pass different from the regular Star Rail Pass is thatthis pass allows you to pull limited edition event characters and Light Cones. You are able to select either a Character Event Warp or a Light Cone Event Warp.

Stellar Jade
Stellar Jade is the second most common currency.It is vital to obtaining characters and Light Cones. You are able to obtain these by completing major achievements such as events, major quests, reaching milestones, and progressing through the game.
you may also purchase Oneiric Shards and trade them at a 1:1 ratio. The currency’s in-game description reads, “A fleeting gleam arrowing across the night sky. Catch it before it’s gone. Maybe it can be used to barter?”

Stellar Jade is used in the Stellar Trade shopto purchase either Star Rail Special Passes or Star Rail Passes. In turn, these allow you to get the characters and Light Cones that you need.
Undying Embers
Undying Embers are another common currency in Honkai Star Rail.They can be obtained by pulling a 3-Star (or lower) Light Cone out of a Warp. Their in-game description is a simple one. “Cold ashes of a shooting star fell from the sky.”
This currency can be used in the Embers Exchange shop.They allow you to purchase materials to upgrade and level up your characters. Usually, these materials are lower in value than the ones you may get from Undying Starlight.
Undying Starlight
The final type of currency is the Undying Starlight.It can only be obtained by pulling 4-Star (or higher) characters and Light Cones from Warps. The in-game description is “Splendid gems formed when a shooting star fell from the sky.”
Similar to the Undying Embers, Undying Starlightallows you to purchase materials and items to level up and upgrade your character.These can be purchased in the Starlight Exchange. These items are of higher quality than those found in the Embers Exchange.
