IO Interactive has revealed a new 10-minute gameplay trailer detailing the new rouge-like gameplay mode “Freelancer,” which will be implemented next year inHitman3, the World of Assassination trilogy finale. A closed technical test will also be hosted onSteamwith limited invites for four days, from November 3-7.
The new mode “Freelancer” is an experience that has you accepting and fulfilling assassination requests around the world using your customizable base of operations. Each syndicate will reward different play styles, giving you an incentive to approach each mission differently, and since you start each mission with little to no preparations or inventory choices, you will have to prepare on-site. Around each randomized location are many freelance supports and areas of interest that can help you get dressed up for the occasion, meaning they are pretty much full-fledged scenarios and not just randomized short set pieces.

Your goal in Freelancer is to kill four syndicate leaders along each campaign, and it won’t be as easy as it sounds, as each syndicate leader can assume different identities and hire mobs to hinder your progress. Furthermore, if you get hurt or lose on the road to meeting those leaders, you will lose all your equipment and half of your money — or all of it during syndicate leader missions — so the game isn’t exactly forgiving. It won’t be long until players can try all that for themselves, as a sign-up page for a closed beta experience of that mode is now available on theofficial website.

The team is being transparent, however, about the feedback not affecting any major design choices, only economy balancing, enjoyment, and technical infrastructure.
