In the world ofHelldivers 2, where the fate of Super Earth hangs in the balance, sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. And by “little things,” we mean the kind of weapons that can turn the tide of battle with a single, well-placed shot. Enter the Recoilless Rifle, a support weapon that’s been causing quite a stir in the Helldivers community lately.

Arrowhead’s recent massive patch, dubbed the“#BuffDivers”update, has breathed new life into the game, introducing a slew of major buffs across the board. And if the resurgence of players and the reignition of discussions on social media are any indication,Helldivers 2might just be on its way back to the land of the living.
The Recoilless Rifle is Now the Automatons’ Worst Nightmare
One of the most talked-about changes in the recent update is the buff to the Recoilless Rifle. This support weapon, once a humble anti-tank weapon, can now take down an entire Dropship with a single well-placed shot. And theHelldivers 2community couldn’t be happier about it.
Helldivers 2 Giving Automaton Hulks Their Own Jetpack is a Scary Proposition
A recent post on the official r/Helldivers subreddit showcasing the absolute carnage has already (as of writing) earned over 13K upvotes, showing just how much the community is on board with this change:
It’s like fun is back on the menu for players—the kind of fun that’s been missing since the early days of the game. And the reactions from fellow Helldivers say it all:

Some players were surprised to learn that you no longer have to aim for certain weak spots to take down the Automaton reinforcements:
That’s right, the Recoilless Rifle’s damage output has been increased by a staggering 400%, turning it into a veritable Dropship deletion tool. And as if that wasn’t enough, players have also noticed that shooting down a Dropship now properly awards kill credit for all the Automaton Troopers on board:

It’s a small change, but one that’s sure to bring a smile to the face of any Helldiver who’s ever watched their kill count stagnate as a Dropship explodes in the distance.
#BuffDivers Is Paying off Well for Arrowhead
But the Recoilless Rifle isn’t the only weapon that’s received some love in the latest patch.Arrowheadhas buffed everything from the humble Liberator to the mighty Railgun.
Helldivers 2 Resurgence is Good News, But We Still Don’t Know How to Get the Best Out of Chemical Agents Warbond – Is it Worth the Hype?
And by giving players the tools they need to feel like unstoppable badasses, the devs have managed to reignite the passion and enthusiasm that madeHelldivers 2such a hit in the first place:
The impact of these changes can be seen in the way players are flocking back to the game, eager to dive back into the fight for Super Earth:

And with the Illuminate faction set to join the fray in the near future, this passion and enthusiasm is going to be more important than ever. Because let’s face it – if the Recoilless Rifle can one-shot a Dropship, just imagine what it’ll do to a Tripod.
