How Hugh Jackman HelpedIron ManStar Robert Downey Jr.
WhenRobert Downey Jr.bagged the part of Iron Man (after a screen test that left director Jon Favreau convinced he had found his perfect superhero) he wasn’t specifically told to work on his physique, as Tony Stark is known for his endless pit of money and of course, his intelligence.
However, theTropic Thunderactor was still keen on getting in shape. Accordingly, he got in touch withX-MenstarHugh Jackman. In an interview with Britain’s Notebook (viaContact Music), Jackman revealed:

“Half of Hollywood[(plays superheroes] now… When Robert first got the part of Iron Man he reached out to me and said, ‘Mate, can you just share with me the diet and how to get in shape?’ because he knew I wasn’t in shape before it, so there’s a little bit of that [sharing that goes on between actors].”
Downey Jr.’s dedication to playingIron Mancertainly paid off, as the MCU franchise’s success not only overshadowed Fox’sX-Menseries, but it also outperformed movies from other genres for well over a decade.

Ironically, with theOppenheimerstar now seemingly out of the CBM genre for good, all eyes are on the likes of Jackman and Ryan Reynolds to maintain the MCU’s dominance at the box office.

What Fitness Advice Did Dwayne Johnson Give to Hugh Jackman
While Downey Jr. turned to Jackman before embarking on his fitness journey, the Australian actor looked at Dwayne Johnson – the wrestler turned actor who’s enjoyed incredible success in Hollywood largely because of his rock-like physique.
Speaking to Men’s Fitness magazine (viaJust Jared) in 2013, theReal Steelstar admitted that he knocked on Johnson’s doors for fitness advice.
“He told me that if in a six-month period you want to put on 25 pounds of lean muscle and not fat, eat natural and eat 6,000 calories a day,”Jackman revealed.“There were times when I would literally eat with the mind set of working out. ‘One more mouthful, one more, come on, come on, you’ve got to finish this meal!’”
Considering his age, it might not be a bad idea for Jackman to contact the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone for tips for his second innings as Wolverine.
