As surprising as it may seem, even though he is one of the most handsome fan-favorite hotshots in the entertainment industry, the 37-year-old actor allegedly has one of the most disgusting habits that could have anyone gag at him. In fact, his practice for maintaining his personal hygiene is actually even worse than Matthew McConaughey’s!

Zac Efronis, unarguably, one of the hottest actors in all of Hollywood, but his personal hygiene patterns don’t match the beauty he sports on the outside. Apparently, as it turns out, the renownedHigh School Musicalalum doesn’t do much to keep his washboard abs and dazzling looks neat and clean as he reportedly avoids showering when he can.
According to what an insider from the set ofHigh School Musical 3claimed to Star Magazine (viaStuff), Efron reportedly went days without washing himself up — even after grueling games of basketball. The source said:
Zac isn’t a big fan of showering. It’s so gross, because Zac loves to work out and plays basketball all the time — and then goes days without showering.
That, of course, is one of the most despicable traits any actor has pulled forward to date, for maintaining at least this much personal hygiene is essentially crucial, and bathing every day might as well be considered the bare minimum, to say the least. But this is not even the most surprising part of it all, as confessed by the insider.

As it turns out, not only does Efron not bathe daily, but he also reportedly had an even more questionable method to clean himself at times like these. As the source continued to share, “When he gets lazy, he likes to clean himself with baby wipes!” So not only does he not bathe daily but has an even weirder way to clean himself. Questionable enough.
However, what’s worth noting is that this lack of showering may be a result of one of theBaywatchstar’s childhood traumatic memories. As he himself revealed in an interview withRefinery29, it all started with him first discovering cologne: “The first time I ever discovered cologne was with my mom at the mall. There were free samples, so I was stocking up.”
But things took a turn downhill when he “put on way too many of them one day and went to school.” The response he got for this stunt was a bit too brutal as he recalled, chuckling, “I think they sent me out of class and made me take a shower because I smelled so bad. I got made fun of for a while.” Perhaps, this could have led to Zac Efron developing this appalling quality.
Matthew McConaughey, in the meanwhile, is a bit too anti-deodorant
On the one hand, while there’s Zac Efron who seems to have been pretty much in the anti-bathing league, on the other hand, there’sMatthew McConaugheywho is just a bit too much in love with his own smell. To be more precise, he appears to have had a lifelong grudge against deodorants, considering how he claimed to have not worn one in around two decades.
In an interview with PEOPLE (per theNew York Daily News), theInterstellarstar came clean with this candid confession as he revealed he had not worn any exterior odor in 20 years. Explaining the reason why, he said, “I don’t like to smell like someone or something else,” he said, adding, “If my smell starts to bother someone else, I’ll take a shower.”
Of course, his pulling off a stunt like this offended some of his co-stars as well, including hisHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Daysco-star,Kate Hudson. In fact, it got to her so much that she reportedly brought salt rock to the set for him to put on as ‘some natural deodorant,’ as McConaughey himself admitted to Playboy (per theBoston Herald). But, then again, to each his own.
