Back in 1977, George Lucas releasedEpisode IV – A New Hopeto mark the beginning of a whole new era in the world of space operas. If anything, he made history and perfectly defined what cinematic masterpieces truly are with the first six movies (original and prequel trilogy) he curated the story for in theStar Warssaga. But then Disney acquired Lucasfilm, and that was that.
Ever since then, fanshavegotten quite some remarkable pieces, but none come as close to perfection as the ones developed by Lucas. In fact, even George Lucas himself hasn’t had the best of praises for the projects that came afterward except for a few, with his review of the most controversial movie from the franchise, i.e.,The Last Jedi, quite literally leaving fans in hysterics.

Released in December 2017,Episode VIII – The Last Jediis widely recognized as one of the most controversial movies (if notthecontroversial movie) from theStar Warsuniverse because of just how oddly disappointing it was, filmmaking and all, as some reviewers atWIREDput it.
But while fans and critics had quite a bit to say about it, they weren’t the only ones to do that.
As it turns out, the movie failed to enchant even the greatGeorge Lucas. In fact, if anything, the 80-year-old filmmaker cum philanthropist had a similar review of the movie as nearly everyone else, although his one was a lot shorter than the others.

This comes after@CultureCrave on Xshared some of the reviews that Lucas had on theSWprojects developed under Disney. This list had quite a few names, includingEpisode VII – The Force Awakens,Rogue One, andObi-Wan Kenobi, besidesEpisode VIII.
And while the mastermind behind this superhit space opera at least had quite a bit to say about the others, his words onTLJwere incredibly measured and limited.

This is because the only main thing he had to say about the 2017Adam Driver-starrer was:
Thought it was “beautifully made.”
But there’s a complete quote about this too. As@fandommenacene1 shared on X, the entire thing that Lucas had said was:
There are a lot of movies that are badly made that I love and there a lot of movies that are just BEAUTIFULLY MADE but I don’t like them.
Nonetheless, this was still as un-enough of a review as ever, especially when considering all the otherthings he had to say aboutthe other listed projects, which clearly listed off if he truly liked/loved the projects or if he simply didn’t.

As expected, this minimal and incredibly measured review ofEpisode VIIIfromthe person who gave birth to theStar Warslorehas fans understanding that they actually weren’t the only ones to find this movie so disappointing as compared to all the others.
