As fellow Potterheads know, a new mobile game is out called Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. Now there already are two mobile games available called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the Harry Potter version of the Pokémon Go game. Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing game where your choices affect the game you play and there are limited-time-only side quests as well as main quests.

Harry Potter:Magic Awakened Warning Page

This mobile game is a collectible card role-playing game with Warner Bros. Games and Portkey Games as two of the publishers. It takes place sometime after Voldemort’s defeat when Professor McGonagall is Headmistress and Neville is Herbology professor. In this guide, you will learn about the customizable menus available for your character.

Starting Out

The very first thing you see after downloading and opening the game is this warning. If you’re photosensitive, this might be a hard game to go through. Something as simple as receiving new cards to performing spells has flashes of light appear.

If you proceed, you get this downloading screen complete with magical music. When it hits a certain spot, it starts playing bits and scenes from the game. You’ll receive a notice from the developers welcoming you to the game while scenes keep playing in the background.

Once you read through and get back to the background scenes, you’ll be able to enter. When you do, you’ll arrive toSelect Your Agescreen. It’s probably for demographic purposes since the gameplay has been kid friendly so far.

Receiving Your Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

After that, you watch a tiny snippet of your character’s backstory. Though a face is never really shown, the narrator is clearly a boy and that’s how it stays until you may change your character. Anyway, during your backstory intro, you meet Hagrid since he comes to personally deliver your Hogwarts letter the same way he did for Harry Potter.

Though it has different wording since we get theacceptance letter. When you open the letter, there’s a spot for your “signature” at the bottom. Whatever you sign will be what they call you in the game, and it highly suggests not to use your real name.

Heading To Diagon Alley

Once you sign your acceptance letter, off you go. Hagrid takes you to Diagon Alley and your first stop is Gringotts to exchange your Muggle money. After that, you head over to Madam Malkin’s for a makeover and new robes. At least that’s what it says in your task tracker. Your “makeover” is actually your chance to personalize your Avatar. Your “new robes” is the final choice you make at Madam Malkin’s, and it’s more everyday wear than your Hogwarts robes (since you haven’t selected your Hogwarts house yet).

Choosing Your Character’s Appearance

This first screen is where you get to choose if you want to bea witch or wizard. There are only 12 appearances to choose from, however, these are just the building blocks for your character. Your character’s foundation if you will because this is just the first personalization screen.

Hairstyles

The next screen you arrive at is theHairstylescreen. Here you can choose from a wide variety of hairstyles as well as different hair colors. You can move or spin your character to be able to see what a certain hairstyle looks like from the back if you want. When you’re finished selecting, take a look at the tabs on the far right. You’ll notice that the tab with hair is glowing; this lets you know which tab you’re currently using.

Face Shape and Skin Color

The next tab you can click under the one that looks like hair is the one with a face on it. Here you can choose the shape of your face as well as the color of the skin of your character. There is a good, wide selection for both.

Eyes, Lips, Eyebrows

Under the tab with the face is the tab that has a makeup brush. When you click that, you’ll also notice this screen has more tabs at the bottom of the box with a button that has an eye on it, a button with a brush, a button with lips, and a button with an eyebrow.

If you click the one with an eye on it, you’ll be able to select your eye color and choose whether or not your pupils have a pattern in them. The button with the brush lets you choose whether or not you have freckles on your face. The lip button and eyebrow buttons let you choose the size and shape of each accordingly.

And the last tab lets you choose whether or not your character wears glasses. Though one choice is technically a monocle and another choice is Luna’s Wrackspurts glasses, the other four choices are actual glasses.

Clothing Makeover

Thefinal stepin Madam Malkin’s shop is your choice between four pieces of everyday clothing rather than Hogwarts robes. Though you aren’t getting anything from a specific house yet, each style does have a certain house color in it. So whichever style you get seems to have one of the house colors, and you can choose whichever one you want, even if you grab clothes that have a color of a different house than the one you end up choosing later in the game.

Buying Your Wand

When you’re finished at Madam Malkin’s your task tracker on the far left of your screen gets updated. This shows you the next thing you need to get done to move forward in the game. When you find Hagrid, he suggests you go to Ollivander’s next to get your wand. You head over and meet Ollivander and try out a wand or two until the wand chooses you.

This experience is more like when Harry gets chosen since you receive information on the wand, but you don’t get to select the wand. If the wand isn’t the one for you, magic goes awry and when you get chosen, a light forms around you just like in the movies.
